3.4 Information on the bacterial filter
Health risks due to handling of
infectious or pathogenic germs
Infectious and pathogenic germs in the aspirate
can pose a risk to health.
•
Never operate the device without a bacterial filter.
•
Prior to each application, make sure that the bacterial
filter is dry and clean to ensure faultless operation.
The bacterial filter integrated between the vacuum generator and the
secretion canister consists of a hydrophilic (self-sealing) material and
has an efficiency against bacteria and viruses. Thus it effectively pro-
EN
tects the vacuum generator against overflow and contamination and
enables fast, simple, and cost-effective processing.
16
The internal bacterial filter is intended for use only on one patient.
It must therefore be replaced by the operator each time a new patient
uses the device (see section 4.2.1). If the device is used on one
patient exclusively, the bacterial filter must be replaced at least
every 2 weeks, if it is used frequently.
To ensure consistent performance, the internal bacterial filter
must also be replaced by authorized service staff if it has come into
contact with the aspirate (blocked) or during maintenance / repair.
Because the drive unit is mechanically isolated from the
vacuum generator, it cannot become contaminated during
use independent from the bacterial filter.
3.4.1 Disposable secretion canister system for
ASSKEA proVisio
M28 secretion aspirator
®
The disposable secretion canister system consists of the "Bag"
external canister, the holder for the "Bag" external canister, the
"OneWay" disposable liner, the adapter for the disposable secretion
canister system, and the suction tube. The "OneWay" disposable
liner has an internal bacterial filter, carbon filter, and solidifier. The
self-sealing bacterial filter integrated in the "OneWay" disposable
liner is effective against microorganisms. It prevents overflow in the
event of an operational error. If the liquid reaches this filter, aspiration
is no longer possible and the vacuum setting buttons on the control
panel illuminate continuously red. The aspiration process is discontin-
ued. The "OneWay" disposable liner must be replaced.
The activated carbon filter in the "OneWay" disposable liner reduces
the spread of odor.
Solidifier:
"OneWay" disposable liners filled with aspirate can be transported
and disposed of in a leak-proof manner with the aid of the solidifier.
The aspirate solidifies after an average gelling time of 2 to 5 minutes
(depending on the consistency of the secretion), irrespective of the
aspiration intervals.
The "OneWay" disposable liner and the suction tube are in-
tended for single use. Replace the "OneWay" disposable liner
and suction tube in accordance with the applicable hygiene
instructions if it is full, prior to each new patient, or weekly at
the latest.
