Connect the probes to the diode in the correct polarity and the measuring value can be read in
the LCD display. For flawless diodes, the voltage drop in the forward direction is approximately
1.25 V for germanium diodes, or approximately 0.7V for silicon diodes.
Note:
In reverse polarity test leads (red test lead to the cathode side, black lead to anode side)
corresponds to the measured value of the voltage drop of the diode in the reverse direction.
When the overload symbol "OL" is displayed, the diode is either open or the voltage drop is
greater than 2.2 V.
The test current is about 1mA
7.9. Continuity
Attention!
Do not perform a continuity test on live electrical components or circuits because this may damage
the device irretrievable.
To measure the continuity of components perform as described:
For switching to the continuity-test press the Ω ●))))- key several times until the signal symbol
●)))) appears in the display.
Make sure the component or circuit to be measured is disconnected from power.
Connect the red test lead to the V / Ω / -II-/Hz - Input and black test lead to COM - input of the
device.
Connect the probe tips to the component or circuit to be measured. For resistances below about
7 Ω an audible signal (buzzer) sounds.
7.10. resistance measurements
Attention!
Do not perform a resistance test on live electrical components or circuits because this may damage
the device irretrievable.
Measure resistance only in idle circuits and make capacitors discharge, which are located in the
circuit, before measurement.
For the resistance measurement perform as described:
Press the Ω ●))))-key.
Connect the red test lead to the V / Ω / -II-/Hz - Input and black test lead to COM - input of the
device.
Connect the probe tips to the component or circuit to be measured
Read the measurement data from the display.
After completion of the measurement remove test leads from the measuring circuit.
Note:
The resistance of the test leads can affect the accuracy of measurement in measurement of low
resistance (200 Ω) ranges negative. The resistance of most test leads is from 0.2Ω ... 1 Ω.
For precise determination of the intrinsic resistance of test leads connect the leads to the input
jacks and short the probe tips. The displayed value corresponds to the intrinsic resistance of test
leads.
For resistance measurements always make sure to have good contact between the probes and
test resistor. Contamination of the probes can lead to wrong measurement results.
If exceeding the measurement range the overload symbol "OL" lights up in the LCD display.
When measuring high resistance values (2 Mohm and higher), the displayed value stabilizes
