LIFESPAN AND REPLACEMENT
The lifespan of the product mainly depends mainly on the way
and frequency in which it is used and external influences.
Products made from synthetic fibre (polyamide, polyester,
dyneema
process even if they are not used. This is caused by the inten-
sivity of UV-rays and environmental influences.
Additionally, this product is subject to constant wear from
use, which may reduce the safety reserves of the materials.
When the usable period has elapsed or latest at the end of the
maximum service life, the product must be removed from use.
Maximum service life at optimum storage conditions (see
under "Storage"):
- Unused: 10 years
- Occasional, proper use (approx. 1–2 times per month) without
visible signs of wear: 5 years
- Frequent use (weekly) without visible signs of wear: 3 years
- Professional/commercial use (weekly to daily): 2 years
If strength reducing factors occur with above average severity/
frequency, the maximum service life may be reduced by up to
50 %:
- Dust
- UV radiation
- Wet-dry cycles (e. g. as occurring in canyoning)
- Heat (> 60°)
Frequent or extreme use, catch load
Following a fall load or in the event of damage, the personal
protection equipment product should be withdrawn from use
immediately and passed on to an expert or to the manufac-
turer for checking with a written confirmation to this effect
and/or, if necessary, to be repaired.

If the following influences have occurred, the product must be
discarded immediately:
- Damage of ribbon edges of the harness
- Signs of abrasion on seams
- Contact with chemicals (acid, lye, cleaning agents...)
- Dynamic fall strain; observe the mark left at the trigger position
(see Fig. 3)
Karabiners with deep scratches and grooving must likewise be
replaced. Proper function of the karabiner must be guaranteed
at all times, that is, the snap lock must close by itself and fully.
Repairs may only be carried out in accordance with procedures
recommended by the manufacturer.
STORAGE, TRANSPORT AND CARE
Storage, Transport:
Continuous temperature for storage approx. –10 °C to +30 °C,
dry and protected from daylight. Without mechanic strain by
crushing, pressure or tension.
The product must be protected from direct sunlight, chemicals
(acids (Caution: Battery acid!), lye, cleaning agents, etc.), cor-
rosive substances, contaminations, dust and mechanical
damage. To ensure this, use a suitable transport container.

If required, halogen-free commercial desinfectants may be used.
The joints of metal parts must be cleansed regularly and then
be lubricated with acid-free oil or a lubricant based on Teflon
or silicone.
