Using the freezing
compartment
A 3-star freezing compartment can be used
for the long-term storage of frozen goods.
A 4-star freezing compartment can be used
for freezing down and for the long-term
storage of frozen goods
Freezing
If fast freezing is required, turn the thermo-
stat knob in the refrigerator compartment
to MAX. (clockwise). This setting will also
affect the temperature in the refrigeration
compartment. Therefore, experience will
show how long fast freezing and with it a
lower refrigerator temperature is necessary.
Make a note of the normal position of the
thermostat knob before setting it on "MAX:"
so that after fast freezing you can find the
"normal" temperature again.
Note also that maximum freezing capacity,
can be achieved, by placing produce al-
ready frozen in the middle of the freezer
compartment, and by placing produce to
be frozen close to the cold side walls of
the freezer compartment.
Defrosting
Refrigeration compartment
The refrigeration compartment has fully
automatic defrosting, controlled by a sensor
which starts refrigeration only when the
evaporator has been completely defrosted.
Should an unusual amount of ice appear,
defrost the compartment manually by swi-
tching off refrigeration.
When the evaporator has been defrosted
and cleaned, restart refrigeration by setting
the correct temperature.

Freezing compartment
Frost should be removed when it becomes
more than 1/2 cm thick. Never use a shar-
por pointed object that might damage the
freezer. The cabinet should be completely
defrosted about twice a year.
Disconnect power at the wall socket and
place a bowl of hot water in the cabinet.
Close the door and wait half an hour. Defro-
sting can be accelerated by blowing hot air
into the cabinet with a hair drier. It then
becomes easy to scrape off any remaining
frost.
Cleaning
Switch off power at the wall socket.
The refrigerator/freezer is best cleaned with
a weak soap solution (max. 85°C). Never
use cleaning agents that might scratch. Cle-
an the sealing strip around the door regular-
ly to prevent discolouration and prolong its
life.
Remove dust and threads from the com-
pressor compartment with a vacuum clea-
ner.

Useful hints

Door sticking
Opening and closing the door(s) creates
underpressure in the cabinet. If you need to
open and close the door(s) repeatedly
within a short period, lay something betw-
een the door sealing strip and cabinet front
edge to create an air gap.
The freezer is to remain unused for a
time
After the refrigerator/freezer has been
defrosted and cleaned, leave the door slig-
htly ajar. This will prevent bad smells.
Compressor does not run
- Check the temperature setting.
- Check to ensure that power is switched
