Cleaning and decalcifying the device

ATTENTION!
❐ The heating plate is very hot after use! First allow it to cool off before you clean it.
❐ The fi lter insert and permanent fi lter are hot after use! Let them cool off before removing
them for cleaning.
❐ Never immerse the device, the mains cord or the plug in water.
❐ Prior to each cleaning, pull the plug out of the socket.
❐ Do not use any scouring or abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads to clean the device. They
could damage the surface!

Cleaning the device

1. Ensure that the device is switched off and disconnected from the power supply!
2. Flip up the water tank / fi lter compartment cover.
3. Take out the fi lter insert and the permanent fi lter. Dispose of the used coffee powder.
4. Clean the fi lter insert, permanent fi lter and the coffee pot with hot water and, if necessary,
a small amount of mild detergent. Do not clean the parts in the dishwasher!
5. Then dry the fi lter insert, the permanent fi lter and coffee pot thoroughly.
6. Place the fi lter insert and permanent fi lter back in the coffee maker once they are com-
pletely dry.
7. If necessary, wipe the coffee maker and heating plate off with a damp cloth. Then dry them
thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Decalcifying the device

You should decalcify the device if water is only circulating very slowly or the device is making
more noise than usual during the brewing process. Use a commercially-available decalcifi er for
coffee makers for decalcifi cation.
1. Fill the water tank with a mixture of water and decalcifi er and turn the device on. Consult
the decalcifi er instruction manual to determine the correct ratio of water to decalcifi er.
2. Let the mixture completely circulate through the device. Repeat the process if the water
still circulates slowly.
3. After you have fi nished decalcifying the device, allow water to circulate through the device
at least three times (without coffee powder in the fi lter!) in order to rinse the lines etc.
