Colour Camera
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to the installation and keep them for later refer-
ence.

Applications
This high resolution camera has especially been de -
signed for installation into video surveillance system
(CCTV). It is equipped with an 8.5 mm (
sor and a lens of variable focal length (2.8 – 11 mm)
with DC voltage controlled iris. The rugged dome
housing protects it against weather (protective class
IP 66) and vandalism. Due to the flexible possibilities
to align the lens (4 motion axes) the camera is also
suitable for wall mounting. In addition, it has the fol-
lowing features:
– Convenient adjustment via on-screen menu
– Insertion of a camera name of 15 characters max. at
a selectable image position
– Backlight compensation with the adjusting facility of
preferred image areas (64 fields)
– Automatic and manual white balance can be
selected
– Mirror-inverted image
– Four masked areas to conceal image parts not to be
monitored
– Adjustable automatic gain control (AGC)
– Electronic shutter with fixed intervals or automatic
adjustment for brightness control (as an alternative
to the iris control)
– Motion detection with adjustable image areas
(64 fields)
– Gamma correction can be adjusted
If the ambient brightness falls below an adjustable
value, the camera changes from colour to B/W opera-
tion, automatically removes the IR suppression filter,
and the 36 infrared LEDs (7) light up to illuminate the
surveillance zone.

Important Notes
The camera corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
G
Protect the camera against extreme temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -10 °C to
+50 °C).
G
Do not touch the lens with your fingers, for cleaning
the lens only use special detergents for optical
lenses.
G
For cleaning the housing only use a dry, soft cloth,
never use aggressive detergents or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material dam-
age will be accepted if the camera is used for other
purposes than originally intended, if it is not correctly
installed, or not repaired in an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.

Mounting
1) To find the optimum place of mounting, a trial run is
recommended. For this purpose set the camera
into operation first (
chapter 4).
2) Mark three holes at the mounting place for mount-
ing the base (4) and drill the holes. Mount the base
TVCCD-436HCOL
with the supplied screws. Guide the cable through
the wall or ceiling, or as an alternative lay it through
the cable inlet, at the side of the base. For this pur-
pose remove the cover screw at the cable inlet.
Protect the cable inlet against penetration of humid-
ity.
3) After all adjustments have been made, place the
dome (8) onto the base and fix it with the three
hexagon socket screws.

Connecting and Aligning the Camera
1) Connect the BNC inline jack (2) via a 75 Ω coaxial
cable to the video input of a monitor. Observe the
correct 75 Ω termination at the monitor or in case of
series connection at the last monitor. With a cable
length of more than 100 m a video amplifier should
be inserted between the camera and the long cable
to compensate level loss caused by the cable.
2) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply unit with a
permanent rating of 450 mA to the low voltage inline
jack (1). For this purpose a coaxial low voltage plug
with 5.5 mm outer diameter and 2.1 mm inner diam-
eter is required (observe the polarity: middle con-
tact = +).
The connectors (1, 2) and the cable distributor (3)
are not weatherproof. In case of outside installa-
tion they have to be protected accordingly.
3) Switch on the monitor and align the camera to the
surveillance zone in an optimum way by adjusting
its support. Pay attention that the cable connec-
tions will not be stretched or torn off.
The camera has an additional video output (10).
A mobile monitor may be connected to this output
via the supplied adapter cable (9) e. g. to facilitate
the adjustments.
4) Adjust the picture cutout with the zoom adjusting
ring (5) and a clear picture with the ring for adjust-
ing the distance (6). The respective adjusting lever
is a fixing screw (hexagon screw) at the same time
.
and has to be released before and retightened after
the adjustment. A matching socket wrench is sup-
plied.
