somit nach erneutem Einschalten des Stromes wieder zur
Verfügung.
3. Anschluss an das Digitalsystem
Der Decoder wird bei abgeschalteter Stromversorgung des
Digitalsystems über das beiliegende Spezialkabel direkt mit
der sich auf der Rückseite des Memorys oder des Interfa-
ces (Märklin, Arnold „alt"), der Intellibox (Uhlenbrock) bzw.
des Twin-Centers (Fleischmann) befindlichen 6-poligen
s88-Steckbuchse verbunden. Die richtige Stellung des Spe-
zialsteckers ist dabei unbedingt zu beachten (siehe Titel-
bild). Dieser muss in sämtlichen Geräten so eingesteckt
werden, dass das Flachbandkabel nach unten verläuft.
Die Verwendung einer Kette aus vielen langen s88-Bus-
kabeln wird anfällig gegen externe Störungen, z. B. durch
fahrende Lokomotiven oder schaltende Magnetartikel.
Daher sollten alle Decoder zentral an einer Stelle der Anla-
ge nahe bei der Zentrale montiert werden. Von dort werden
dann die einzelnen Leitungen zu den Gleiskontakten bzw.
-abschnitten geführt. Sollten Sie im Einzelfall doch ein län-
geres Buskabel benötigen, können Sie das beiliegende
kurze Kabel mit dem s88-Verlängerungskabel, Viessmann
Art. 5230 auf insgesamt 1,65 m verlängern.
Am Märklin Interface, dem Fleischmann Twin-Center und
der Uhlenbrock Intellibox können bis zu 31 Rückmeldede-
coder, Art. 5217 oder 62 Rückmeldedecoder mit Gleisbe-
legtmelder, Art. 5233 angeschlossen werden. Ein Rückmel-
dedecoder, Art. 5217 (16 Eingänge) wird also durch zwei
Art. 5233 mit jeweils 8 Eingängen ersetzt. Die Summe aller
Decodereingänge kann maximal 496 betragen.
Rückmeldedecoder mit Gleisbesetztmelder, Art. 5233 und
Rückmeldedecoder, Art. 5217 (oder Märklin „s88") können
in beliebiger Reihenfolge miteinander kombiniert werden.
Die Decoder werden dabei automatisch von der Zentrale
bzw. dem Interface fortlaufend von 1 bis 31 durchnum-
meriert. Je zwei aufeinander folgende Art. 5233-Decoder
erhalten dabei die gleiche Adresse (siehe Abb. 1).
Platzieren Sie deshalb immer jeweils 2 Decoder, Art. 5233
unmittelbar direkt hintereinander in der Kette. Ansonsten
kommt es zu Verschiebungen bei der automatischen
Adressvergabe: Ein Art. 5217 oder s88 würde dann halb
zu der einen und halb zu der nächsten Adresse gehören.
Das ist zwar grundsätzlich erlaubt, führt aber zur Unüber-
sichtlichkeit.
Der am Decoder aufgedruckte Pfeil muss in Richtung
Digitalzentrale zeigen!
Bitte beachten, dass Teile des Decoders sehr sensibel auf
statische Spannungen reagieren!
Das Spezialkabel vorsichtig auf die Kontaktstifte aufstecken
(die Stifte können leicht verbogen werden)!
Spezielle Hinweise für das Memory:
An ein Memory von Märklin können maximal sechs Art.
5233 angeschlossen werden. Der erste Decoder in der
Kette dient dann dem Aktivieren der Fahrstraßen der
Tastengruppe „A", der zweite dem Aufheben dieser Fahr-
straßen. Der dritte Art. 5233 ist dann für das Aktivieren der
Fahrstraßen der Tastengruppe „B" usw. .
Spezielle Hinweise für die Intellibox und das Twin-Cen-
ter:
Der Anschluss erfolgt an die mit „s88" gekennzeichnete

The decoder is connected directly to the 6-pin s88 sock-
et at the rear of the Memory or the Interface (Märklin or
Arnold), of the Intellibox (Uhlenbrock), or the Twin-Center
(Fleischmann) via the included special cable, with the
power of the digital system switched off. Be absolutely
sure the special plug is positioned correctly (see cover
photo). It must be inserted into all devices so that the rib-
bon cable runs downward.
The use of a long chain with many long s88 bus cables is
susceptible to external distortions, caused by driving loco-
motives or switching magnetic devices for example. So we
recommend to place all feedback decoders at a common
area of the layout, preferably next to the central unit. From
this point the single wires go to the track contacts and/or
track sections. However, if you should need a longer bus
cable in an individual case, you can extend the enclosed
short cable with the s88-extension cable, Viessmann item
5230 to a total of 1.65 m.
Up to 31 feedback decoders, item 5217 or 62 feedback
decoders with track occupancy detectors, item 5233 can
be connected to the Märklin Interface, the Fleischmann
Twin-Center, or the Uhlenbrock Intellibox. This means that
one feedback decoder item, 5217 (16 inputs) is replaced
by two items 5233 with 8 inputs each. The total number of
decoder inputs can be up to 496.
The feedback decoder with track occupancy detector, item
5233 and the feedback decoder, item 5217 (or s88) can be
combined with each other in any sequence.
The decoders are automatically numbered in sequence
from 1 to 31 by the central control unit or the interface.
Every two consecutive item 5233 decoders get the same
address (see fig. 1).
Therefore always place 2 decoders, item 5233 directly
behind each other in the chain. Otherwise offsets in the
automatic address assignment occur. An item 5217 or s88
would then belong half to one and half to the next address.
This is allowed in principle, but leads to confusion.
The arrow printed on the feedback decoder must point in
the direction of the digital command station!
Please note that parts of the decoder are very sensitive to
static electricity!
Plug the special cable carefully onto the contact pin (the
pins bend easily)!
Special information for the Memory:
Up to six items 5233 can be connected to a Memory from
Märklin. The first decoder in the chain is for activating the
routes of key group "A", and the second for deactivating
these routes. The third item 5233 is for activating the
routes of key group "B", etc. .
Special information for the Intellibox and the Twin-
Center:
The connection is made at the socket marked "s88". In
the basic settings menu, you have to enter the amount of
feedback decoders connected under point "s88 settings".
