The pump could be damaged if the oil level is allowed to fall too far. The oil level should
not be lower than 1 to 2 cm below the top of the tank. Change the hydraulic oil completely
once every year.
-
Check to be sure that no contaminating particles have entered the hydraulic oil tank.
-
Dispose of the used hydraulic oil in accordance with local regulations.
-
Let the firewood splitter run for a few minutes with no load after changing the oil. Only
then switch the machine on and put it to use.
Use a hydraulic oil such as HLP 46 in the firewood splitter. Alternatively, any other
equivalent hydraulic oil may be used.
Changing the oil filter (Figure 10 on page 3)
The firewood splitter is provided with an oil filter. To change the filter proceed as follows:
-
Tip the machine over onto its right-hand side.
-
Unscrew the oil drain plug E from underneath the base of the firewood splitter. Use a
24 mm open-ended wrench for this purpose. Loosen the oil tank filling nozzle cover
and vent (Figure 11, item 9 on page 4)
-
Let the oil run out into a suitable vessel.
-
Loosen the hose clamp A and disconnect the hose B.
-
Remove the connection piece C with the oil filter D.
-
Remove the used oil filter and dispose of it in accordance with local regulations.
-
Screw a new oil filter into the connection piece. When the filter makes contact with the
filter head, give the filter another three-quarters of a turn. Tighten it only by hand.
Return the oil drain plug E to the drain hole again and tighten it.
-
-
Bring the machine back up to the vertical position.
-
Using a funnel, pour hydraulic oil into the hydraulic oil tank filling nozzle (Figure 11,
item 9 on page 4) as described on page 37. Screw the oil tank filling nozzle cover
back on again.
Take the used oil to an official collection place or observe the regulations of the
country in which the firewood splitter is being operated. Do not dump the oil in
drains, in the ground or into any kind of body of water.

Maintaining the machine

• Check for any possible leaks from the hoses and connections before the start of each
work cycle.
• Check the running surfaces of the guides for wear and if necessary have them replaced
