• Check that the AC supply voltage available is the same as that given on the rating
label of the machine.
• Use only such extension cables in the open air as have been approved for that
purpose.
• If a cable drum is used, wind the cable completely off the drum to prevent the cable
from overheating.
• Ensure that the AC supply connection socket is fitted with an earth-leakage circuit
breaker if the machine is to be operated in the open air.
• Always lead the cable away from the back of the machine.
• Place the wood to be split firmly on the work table of the machine to prevent it moving
unintentionally.
• Never attempt to split wet wood and never work in the rain.
• Split only one piece of wood at a time.
• Never attempt to split wood containing foreign bodies.
• Do not allow any other person to hold the wood while it is being split.
• Never attempt to clear faults or remove jammed wood without first switching off the
machine and disconnecting the AC supply. Only then remove the jammed wood, not
before.
• Never attempt to load logs into the firewood splitter while the splitting wedge is
moving.
• Do not overload the machine to such an extent that it comes to a stop.
• Do not wear loose clothing which could get caught up in the machine during operation
or maintenance work.
• Wear suitable personal protective equipment (PPE):
- Wear ear protection to reduce the risk of deafness.
Caution:
Noise can damage your health. Wear ear protection when the
permissible noise level of 85 dB(A) is exceeded.
- Wear respiratory protection to reduce the risk of inhaling dangerous dust or particles.
- Wear eye protection to reduce the risk of eye injury.
- Wear protective gloves and safety shoes when working with rough materials.
• Do not allow persons under the age of 18 to operate this machine except as a part of
their trade training and under the supervision of an instructor. Keep persons under the
age of 16 away from the machine.
• Report to the person responsible for safety, all defects found in the machine, including
defects in the covers and the protective devices, immediately they are discovered.
• Do not leave the machine running unattended.
