Wheel balancing
WARNING – Incorrectly balanced wheels
Risk of injury due to change in handling cha-
racteristics of vehicle.
WBE 4220 must be positioned on a flat
surface and must be firmly bolted to the
floor.
Specified flange must be mounted on
clean and grease-free shaft.
Use the specified accessories (cone, spa-
cer rings).
Rim must contact flange accurately, remo-
ve any dirt.
Perform a check measurement after apply-
ing balancing weights.

Sound and automatic start are active in the following
description for a passenger vehicle wheel (refer to
Section 10).
Switch on the MT 788 at the on/off switch.
 The hardware version (e.g. 0.2) and the software
version (e.g. 1.05) are briefly displayed.

Selection of balancing program

Static balancing is recommended for wheels with
a width of less than 3.5": In this case only the rim
diameter value is entered. The values for distance
and width of the rim can be set arbitrarily in inches
or mm.
Press the <Wheel type> key to switch between pas-
senger vehicle and commercial vehicle wheel.
The various balancing programs can be consecutively
called up and selected by pressing the <MODE> key.

The LEDs (Fig. 4, Item 1) indicate the positions of the
balancing planes for each balancing program.

If a PAX balancing program has been selected, the
pax LED also lights (Fig. 4, Item 10).

Entering the wheel data

1. Place the vernier caliper for rim distance against the
rim and read off the value "K".

2. Select the rim distance determined by way of the <->
or <+> rim distance key (Fig. 4, Item 7).
3. Determine the rim width (read off from rim or mea-
sure with measuring compasses).

2 Outer tip for rim diameter
3 Inner tip for rim width
4 Scale for rim width
4. Select the measured rim width using the <-> or <+>
button for rim width (Fig. 4, Item 6).
5. Determine the rim diameter (read off from rim or
measure with measuring compasses).
6. Select the rim diameter determined by way of the <->
or <+> rim diameter key (Fig. 4, Item 2).
