Filling with motor oil
CAUTION! Device damage! The
device is supplied without motor oil.
Before starting it up, you must fill with
motor oil.
Figure 5 – Page 3
– Unscrew and remove the motor oil filling screw
(11).
– Carefully fill with motor oil (maximum quantity:
Technical data – Page 51). Do not spill!
– Tighten the motor oil filling screw (11) up again
by hand.
– Check the level of the motor oil (Checking the
level of motor oil – Page 48).
Draining the motor oil
Figure 5 – Page 3
– Unscrew and remove the motor oil filling screw
(11).
– Place a container under the motor oil drainage
screw (19).
– Use appropriate tools to turn and remove the
motor oil drainage screw (19).
– Allow the motor oil to drain fully.
– Use a new seal and the motor oil drainage screw
(19) and tighten using an appropriate tool.
Operation
CAUTION! Device damage! If the maxi-
mum output of the device is exceeded by
the consumers, the overload protection is
automatically triggered. For this reason,
make sure that the consumers do not
exceed the maximum output.
Check before starting the device!
CAUTION! Risk of injury! The device may
only be put into operation if there are no
defects or faults. If a part is defective, it
must be replaced before the device is
used again.
Check to make sure the device is in a safe operating
condition:
– Check that no leaks have developed.
– Check to make sure there are no visible defects.
– Check that the spark plug connector has been
clipped into place correctly.
– Check the power cable of the consumers for vis-
ible damages.
46
– Make sure that the output required by the con-
sumers does not exceed the maximum output of
the device.
Grounding the device
DANGER! Risk to life! The device must
be grounded in order to prevent the con-
nected consumer from causing an electri-
cal shock.
– Connect a length of cable, which is stripped at
both ends, to the ground connection (3) and an
external ground (e.g. a spike).
Starting the motor
CAUTION! Device damage! Only con-
nect electrical consumers after starting
the motor (Connecting the consumers –
Page 47).
WARNING! Danger of fire!
Any spilled fuel may cause the device to
catch fire.
– Wipe any spilled fuel away before
starting.
– Start the device at least nine metres
from the place you filled it.
Figure 6 – Page 4
– Set the fuel tap (4) to ON.
– If the motor is cold.
Shift the cold start lever (3) to the left.
– Set the ignition switch (10) to ON.
This will protect both the starter
cord and the motor.
Pull the starter cord out by a maximum
of 50 cm and gently feed it back in by
hand.
– Slowly pull out the starter cord (5) until the starter
clicks into place, then pull forcefully.
– Repeat this procedure a few times (maximum six
times), until the motor runs.
Note: If the cold start lever (3) was moved
to the left and the motor does not start,
return the cold start lever (3) to its starting
position. Repeat start procedure. If the
motor still does not start, remove the
spark plug and dry the electrode (Clean-
ing/replacing spark plugs – Page 49).
