The CP 1401 is a communications processor for the
SIMATIC M7-300 and M7-400 automation computers.
The CP 1401 is intended for operation in networks that
handle communication using the CSMA/CD medium access
control technique (Ethernet).
The CP 1401 is attached to the LAN (Local Area Network)
using a 15-pin sub-D female connector on the front panel of
the CP.
The 15-pin sub-D connector with a slide-lock mechanism is
intended for connection of both AUI transceiver cables
(Attachment Unit Interface) and for the connection of ITP
cables (Industrial Twisted Pair).
If you use Siemens ITP cables, the switchover between AUI
and ITP is automatic.
