4. USE, REFERENCES AND
TIPS
Setting drill depth
1. The drill depth can be set with the
depth stop with scale.
1.1 Loosen the clamping screw of the
drilling table.
1.2 Move the drilling table until the
surface of the clamped work piece
is 3 to 5 mm below the drill bit and
retighten the clamping screw of the
drilling table.
2. Set the drill depth as follows.
2.1 Turn the drill control lever until the
drill bit touches the surface of the
work piece.(Fig. E)
2.2 Turn the scale of the drill depth
setting to 0 (zero point) against the
marking arrow and retighten the
locking screw.
3. You can now drill according to the
display on the scale.
4. If you want to use the depth stop e.g.
for exact repetition drillings, proceed
according to the following steps.
4.1 Put the work piece aside
4.2 Set the drilling depth according to
the display on the scale and hold
the lever in this position. (Fig. F the
depth value in this example is 20
mm)
4.3 Loosen the locking screw. Turn the
display to the end position of the
depth stop (approx. 53 mm) and
tighten the locking screw again.
(Fig. G)
4.4 Return the lever to the original
position. (Within the highest range).

4.5 Put the work piece on the drilling
table. You are now ready to
drill; the drilling depth is set and
automatically limited by the stop.
Note: Always carry out a test drilling
before drilling several work pieces.
A further minor adjustment could be
necessary.
Clamping the drill
You can clamp drills and other tools
with a cylindrical shank into the drill
chuck of the pillar drill.
The torque is transferred to the drill
by the clamping force of the three
clamping jaws. Clamp the drill with
the toothed ring key (enclosed as
accessory), in order to avoid slip.
Slipping of the drill in the chuck can
very easily result in a burr on the drill
shank, which makes a centric clamping
impossible. Grind such a burr off
before further use of the drill.
Clamping the work piece
The drilling table (7) and the baseplate
(5) of the pillar drill are equipped with
grooves for attaching clamping tools.
Always firmly clamp the work piece
in the clamping tool (8) or with other
clamping tools.
You thereby reduce the risk of
accidents and increase drilling
accuracy, since the work piece cannot
move.
Adjusting the drilling table
Fig. C
The drilling table (7) is fastened to the
drilling column (6) and can be adjusted
in height after loosening the clamp
lever (4). Adjust the drilling table in
such a way that there is still a sufficient
distance between the upper edge of
