5.3 Permissible ambient and operating temperatures
When mounting the diaphragm seal measuring system it must be ensured that, taking into
consideration the influence of convection and heat radiation, no deviation above or below
the permissible ambient and medium temperatures can occur.
The influence of temperature on the indication accuracy must be observed.
With the selection of the diaphragm seals, the pressure-temperature resistance of the fittings
and flange components must be considered through the choice of materials and pressure
ratings. The pressure rating stated on the diaphragm seal applies for ambient temperatures.
With higher temperatures, the max. permissible pressure must be taken from the standard
specified on the diaphragm seal or the specifications given in the corresponding data sheet.
5.4 Commissioning
During the commissioning process pressure surges must be avoided at all costs. Open the
shut-off valves slowly.

6. Special conditions for safe use (X conditions)

When using the diaphragm seal models 981.xx and 990.xx as deflagration flame arresters,
the following conditions must be complied with and fulfilled:
The inner diameter of the pipeline on the unprotected side between the possible ignition

source and the deflagration flame arrester must not be greater than 1 mm.
The pipeline length L of the pipeline on the unprotected side between the possible
■
ignition source and the deflagration flame arrester must not be longer than 500 mm.
The possible ignition volume must not be greater than 1,000 cm³.
■
The flammable gases and liquids occurring in operation can belong to explosion groups
■
IIA, IIB or IIC with a normal joint width of < 0.5 mm.
The operating temperature of 60 °C must not be exceeded.
