9.4 Changing the oil

· Switch the gear motor off and ensure that it cannot be turned on again accidentally.
· Wait until the gearbox has cooled down - Risk of burning.
· Only change the oil when the gearbox is at operating temperature.
· Put a receptacle under the oil drain plug.
· Remove the oil level indicator, the bleed screw/ valve and the oil drain plug.
· Drain the oil completely.
· Screw the oil drain plug in.
· Fill with new oil through the oil filling plug in accordance with the oil recommendations. Before using other
types of oil please contact SCG.
· Fill the quantity of oil as set out in Section 8.2.3 "Oil quantities".
· Check on the oil level display.
· Replace the bleed screw/ valve.
The drained oil must be disposed of properly.

Oil leaks from the bleed valve
Drive shaft doesn't turn although the
motor is running or the drive shaft is
turned
Small quantities of oil or grease escaping from the shaft sealing ring must be considered normal in the running in phase (24
hours running time) (see also DIN 3761).

Possible cause
1. Unwinding/ grinding noise:
Damaged bearing
2. Knocking noise: Problem in the trans-
mission
Foreign bodies in the oil
1. Seal on the gearbox cover is leaking
2. Seal faulty
3. Gearbox has not been ventilated.
- too much oil
- Drive installed in the wrong model
- frequent cold start (oil foams up) and/
or oil level high
The shaft hub connection in the gear-
box is broken
