7.1.1 REPLACING THE ROPE (Fig. 4)
The rope must be replaced by a qualified service technician.
Cut the cord to be replaced close to the hook (ref. 2, fig. 1) and
remove the counterweight (ref. 4, fig. 1).
To avoid exerting excessive force on the rope attachment point,
the drum is fitted with a device that ensures that two turns of
rope are always left on even when the rope is completely
the cord to the drum, removing
the screw locking the two
sections of cord inside the
sleeve; remove the cord and
set aside the screw and the
sleeve for later use.
Insert the end of the new cord
in the counterweight, pass it
through the hole and then into
the slot. Replace the locking
device removed as above,
inserting the two sections of
cord into the aluminium sleeve
and then locking the whole by fastening
the screw between the two cords

tightly (fig. 4.1). Pull the cord back until
the aluminium sleeve touches the inner
wall of the drum.
Wind on two complete turns while
keeping the rope in contact with the
drum (fig. 4.2).
On the
second
turn pass the rope under the
hook located inside the other
slot in the drum (fig. 4.3).
Tension the rope to ensure
good contact with the drum
surface.
Wind on the rope in adjacent turns, one layer at a time.
Check that the UP limit switch operates when the counterweight
touches the lever.
Run the load test described in paragraph 5 and record the rope
replacement in Table 2.
7.1.2 PERIODIC CHECKS
Visually check the condition of the rope every day
and whenever it is subjected to abnormal strain
(twisting, bending, kinks or abrasion).
Replace the rope when defective (Fig. 10).

unwound.
The new rope must be
mounted this way.
Unroll the old cord completely
and remove it from inside the
drum, passing the cut part
through the hole and slot
provided.
The spare parts kit (Fig. 4.4)
contains the new cord, cut
to
measure,
with
the
pressed hook already fitted
on one end and the device
locking the cord to the drum
on the other.
Dismantle the device locking

Inspect the entire rope carefully every three months and in
particular the ends; note the results in the chart (Table 2) which
must be kept by the site foreman.
Replace the rope at least once a year.
7.2 ADJUSTING THE MOTOR BRAKE (Fig.5
The mechanically operated disk brake engages when magnetic
opening device does not receive electric power. If braking
power is reduced a qualified
technician must check the device
and adjust it.

servicing
the
make sure that the hoist
is not loaded and that the
brake s power supply is
disconnected.
Remove electrical system cover
(A), (be careful with wires of
various electrical connections
during dismantling and remounting)
and adjust the air gap d between
magnet (B) and brake disk (C) by
means of a feeler gauge. The gap
(d) must be 0.3 mm.
Measurement should be taken at three points in order to check
that the disc is perfectly parallel to the magnet. Slide the feeler
gauge lightly backwards and forwards. If the air gap is too
wide, reduce it by tightening nut D with a ring spanner. If the
air gap is too small, increase it by unscrewing nut D . Check
revised distance d several times.
Once the air gap has been correctly adjusted, refit electrical
system cover A .
To check braking capacity, after carrying out the adjustment,
repeatedly test braking action under full load conditions.
7.3 GEARMOTOR LUBRICATION
The gearmotor unit must not develop grease leaks. Leaks may
indicate damage to the aluminium casing. In this case, reseal or
replace the casing.
Grease in gearmotor unit is sufficient for 2000 work hours.
Open gearmotor cover to top up with gear grease.
7.4 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Check the condition of the control panel insulating case, if
damaged it should be replaced with the IMER spare part.
8. DISMANTLING
Unload the hook.
Wind the steel rope completely onto the drum. Disconnect the
machine from the mains.
Detach the shackle from hoist attachment and remove from
support.
9. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Do not leave the installed hoist unattended without having first
wound the rope completely onto the drum and disconnected
the electrical power supply.
When storing the machine for a long period of time, protect it
from aggressive atmospheric agents.
- During transport, protect the machine from blows and crushing
to avoid compromising its functionality and mechanical strength.
