Dear Client
Congratulations on choosing the IMER hoist, the reliable and
innovative result of years of experience.
WORKING IN SAFETY
To work in complete safety, read the following
instructions carefully before installing the hoist.
This OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE manual must be kept on
site by the person in charge, e.g. the site foreman, and must
always be available for consultation.
The manual is to be considered an integral part of the machine
and must be kept for future reference (EN 292/2) until the
machine is disposed of. If it is damaged or lost, a replacement
copy may be requested from the hoist manufacturer.
The manual contains important information regarding site
preparation, installation, operation, maintenance, and ordering
of spare parts. Nevertheless, the installer and the operator
must both have adequate experience and knowledge of the
machine prior to use.
To guarantee the complete safety of the operator, safe
operation and long life of equipment, follow the instructions in
this manual carefully, and observe all safety standards currently
in force for the prevention of accidents at work, with particular
reference to suspended loads and fall equipment (use of
suitable footwear and clothing, hard hats, safety harnesses,
proper installation of railings around drops, etc.).
It is strictly forbidden to carry out any form of
modification to the steel structure or working parts
of the machine.
IMER INTERNATIONAL declines all responsibility for non-
compliance with laws and standards governing the use of
lifting equipment, in particular; improper use, defective power
supply, lack of maintenance, unauthorised modifications,
tampering with or damage to part or all of the equipment, and
partial or total failure to observe the instructions contained in
this manual.
IMER reserves the right to modify the characteristics of the
hoist and/or the contents of this manual without any obligation
to update previous machines or manuals.
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
ATTENTION: Use of lifting equipment requires care
and skill. The machine must be operated by skilled
and properly instructed personnel only.
1) The machine is designed to lift materials only
and for use on building construction sites.
2) Carrying passengers and/or animals is
prohibited.
3) The machine must not be used where there is
risk of fire or explosion or underground.
The machine consists of (fig. 1):
- Cable Drum (3), wire rope (1), lift hook (2) and counterweight
(4).
- Electric brake motor (9) and grease lubricated gear unit (6).
- Electrical system (10).
- UP position control lever (5).
- Hoist attachment (11) with shackle (12) for fixing to support
pipe (13).
- Pendant control with 1m cable and three pushbuttons (7).
- Electricity supply connector (8).
2. IMER HOIST SUPPORT STRUCTURE
The structure on which the hoist is mounted must be able to
withstand the stresses generated during operation (fig. 2).
1,400N is the maximum force carried by the hoist in the most
demanding operating conditions.
IMER INTERNATIONAL S.p.A.
RIO 100
The IMER hoist has two supports (fig.7 & 8), for various
situations on site designed so that applied loads are
commensurate with capacity of supporting structure.
These forces - referred to support couplings - must be
accounted for in calculations related to supporting structures
(scaffolding, balconies, ceilings, etc.), made by a qualified
technician.
If the hoist is to be secured to scaffolding, it must be braced
(Fig. 9).
To install the various supports, follow the instructions given in
paragraph 13.
When using supports with load bearing capacities other than
that of the hoist, the permissible load bearing capacity of the
weakest element of the system must be prominently displayed.
2.1 SITE PREPARATION
- Make sure that the lifting run is free from obstacles, and
ensure that nobody can lean out into the hoistway from
intermediate floors.
- Cordon off the ground loading area to prevent interference
with work.
3. INSTALLATION (Fig.1)
1) Only competent, trained personnel may assemble and ope-
rate the hoist.
2) The maximum working height (20m) is measured from the
cable drum axis.
3) The pipe that the hoist is anchored to must be horizontal.
Check with a spirit level.
4) Fix attachment (11) to pipe and fit shackle (12) on narrow
section of attachment. Make sure it is correctly closed.
5) The hoist is equipped with a direct control panel with three
push buttons (fig.3):
black = down
white = up
red = emergency
stop.
9) Release the hook.
4. CONNECTION TO THE MAINS
- Make sure that the mains voltage is the same as that specified
on the dataplate.
- Check that the mains voltage is between 210V and 240V,
when the hoist is lifting its maximum load.
- The power cable must be fitted with an overload circuit breaker
and a ground fault protector, the earth wire must have the
same cross-section as the power cable.

IMPORTANT
The EC declaration of
conformity enclosed with
this manual is valid only
if
components
manufactured exclusively
by IMER are used (hoist
and support structures).
If this condition is not
satisfied, this declaration
is valid only for the hoist.
The
installation
technician must draw up a new EC Declaration of
Conformity after verifying that all the requirements
contained in the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC have
been met.
The load access to the floor must be protected by a
rail over 1m high and a foot stop.
