Mounting options
The following options exist for mounting the valve system:
4
Figure
shows the following assembly examples:
W
Valve system with D-Sub connection (A)
W
Valve system with bus coupler and I/O modules (B)
W
DIN rail mounting (C)
Assemble the valve system on the mounting surface (A), (B)
Additional stabilization of the base plates and I/O modules
With more than 3 I/O modules on the valve system, damage can occur if the valve
system is subject to oscillations and vibrations during operation.
O Install an additional retaining bracket (Fig.
system does not need to be disassembled for this step.
You can purchase retaining brackets from our sales department or through
our online catalog using the order number R412018339.
O Assemble the valve system on a level surface using four screws.
O Note the dimensions of the valve system.
Assemble the valve system on the DIN rail (C)
Also note the assembly instructions for DIN rail R412019467.
Connecting the pneumatics
Overpressure caused by closed exhaust outputs
Closed exhaust outlets will lead to air congestion and valve damage.
O Never close connection R.
O Ensure that ports 3, 5, and R provide sufficient exhaust.
General instructions
O Fit exhaust air connections that are not connected to an exhaust air line with a
silencer.
O Provide unused connections with blanking plugs.
O Ensure that enough free space is left for the pneumatic tubing so that the
permitted minimum bending radii are adhered to.
O Note that the use of PUR tubing limits the holding force of the tubing in the push-
in connectors.
O For push-in fittings, only use polymer plug accessories from the pneumatics
catalog. Only use compressed air tubing from the TU 1-F series with stiffener
sleeves.
O Fix the pneumatic tubing for compressed air supply near the connection to
ensure it does not bend. Rule of thumb: the first 5 cm before the inlet must be
straight.
O When using plug connectors, also note the information from ISO standard 14743
Pneumatic fluid power – Push-in connectors for thermoplastic tubes.
Connecting the supply lines
O Connect the supply and exhaust lines to connections 1, 3, and 5 on the end plates
(torque 10 ±1 Nm).
For larger air requirements, use additional supply plates.
Connecting the external pilot control air (optional)
O Connect the external pilot control air to the connections X12 and X14 (torque
2 ±0.2 Nm).
Connecting the pilot exhaust air
O Fit connection R12 and R14 on the right end plate with a silencer or connect lines
for restricted pilot exhaust (torque 2 ±0.2 Nm).
Setting the operating mode on the valve system
The pilot air cover in the end plate makes it possible to switch the valve system
operating mode between internal pilot control (connection 1) and external pilot
control (connection X).
1. Loosen both pilot air cover mounting screws.
2. Lift the pilot air cover.
3. Turn the pilot air cover until the marking points to the desired mode.
4. Make sure that the seals have been inserted correctly.
5. Retighten the pilot air cover (WS TX10, torque 0.9 ±0.1 Nm).
The new operating mode is now set.

CAUTION
Connecting the electrical system
Dangerous voltage
Danger of injury due to short circuits and electrical shocks caused by unsafe
power supply isolations, improper grounding, and insufficient external fuse
protection for the solenoid control.
O Only use PELV electric circuits in accordance with EN 60204-1.
O Always establish the power supply using a safety isolation transformer in
accordance with IEC 61558-1/IEC 61558-2-6
(EN 61558-1/EN 61558-2-6). Equivalent solutions are permitted.
O Protect the solenoid control with an external fuse.
To establish the electrical connection with a D-Sub plug:
1. Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical connections so that the
permissible minimum bending radii are adhered to. Make sure that there is
adequate space for the plugs used.
2. Connect the D-Sub cable to the controlling electrical system.
Tip: Preassembled cables with suitable D-Sub mating plugs can be found in our
online catalog at http://www.aventics.com/pneumatics-catalog.
3. Plug the D-Sub mating plug into the valve system plug and tighten it (torque
0.4 ±0.1 Nm).
