Piping work and refrigerant charge
The liquid pipe does not have to be connected to the CH
(9)
unit. See Table 6 for the pipe diameter between the multikit
and the indoor unit.
Where the combination of indoor unit capacities is 10 HP
(10)
for the CH-10.0N(1/2) unit, performance will drop by approxi-
mately 5% in refrigeration and 10% in heating.
The excess total capacity may lead to insufficient perfor-
(11)
mance and abnormal operating noise. Check that the installa-
tion is within the total capacity values.
For operations in cooling mode only, connect the indoor
(12)
units using gas and liquid pipes (without the CH unit). The total
capacity in cooling mode only must be less than 50% the total
capacity of the indoor units.
The installation conditions for the refrigerant pipes are dif-
(13)
ferent depending on the number of indoor units connected.
N O T E
Check that the gas pipe and the liquid pipe are equivalent in terms of length and installation system.
Use the multikit system for branching of the indoor units and the CH unit.
Install the indoor unit and the multikit according to the instructions given in this manual.
Where the length of pipe L3 between each multikit and each indoor unit is considerably longer than on another indoor unit, the refriger-
ant will not flow correctly and performance is lower in comparison with other models (recommended pipe length: up to 15 m).
Pipe branching restrictions
Heat Pump Systems (2 pipes) and Heat Recovery Systems (3 pipes)
In the case that the piping length L2 from the Multi-Kit at the first
branch to the farthest indoor unit is over 40m, follow the instruc-
tions below when performing the field-supplied piping work.
Example 1
Piping length from the multikit at the first branch to the terminal
Indoor Units is within 40-90 m
A
1 In the case that the piping length L2 is over 40m, thet size of
gas and liquid lines "b and c" or "g and h" should be increased
by one size with reducers (field-supplied).
If (a) is smaller than (b, c) after increasing the size, increase
the size of (a) to the same size as (b, c).
2 The difference between the piping length from the first branch
to the farthest indoor unit and the piping length from the first
branch to the closest indoor unit must be within 40m.
*(g+h+j)-(b+d) < 40m

The total pipe length permitted must be less than 1000
(14)
m due to the maximum additional refrigerant charge limi-
tation. In case "Recommended IU quantity" is exceed-
ed, next graph restriction applies to total piping length:

Make sure to calculate a lineal proportion when working out
intermediate cases. In case the total pipe length is longer than
300m, capacity may drop progressively as a result of heat loss
through the pipes.
Where the branch is after the CH unit and the capacity of
(15)
the connected indoor unit is (0.8-1.5) HP, use a 15.88 mm di-
ameter for the gas pipe.
Header branch can be used with line branch at the 3 pipes portion
and 2 pipes portion. Header branch can also be used after the
second branch. Do not connect a line branch to a header branch.
When using header branch, make sure that the piping length L2
from the Multi-Kit at the first branch to the farthest indoor unit is
within 40m.
