condition. If you chose, "No" for any reason, you can go to Advanced
Controls -> Tools and check the "Check for updates automatically" box.
You can also use this same screen to "Check for updates" to see if your
FS array has the latest versions of software and firmware. For more
information, see www.drobo.com/support/updates.
Accessing files on your FS storage array
After you have set up shares on your FS array, you can access the shares
in either of the following ways:
A. Using Drobo Dashboard
We recommend installing Drobo Dashboard on all computers that will
be accessing your Drobo FS or DroboPro FS. This is the easiest way to
mount shares on those computers. The shares are listed on the main
Drobo Dashboard page. By clicking in the "Mount" check box next to the
share name, you can mount the network drive on your computer. Drobo
Dashboard will automatically mount the selected shares every time you
restart your computer so that they are always available to you when
you are connected to the network. If the share is protected, you must
first log in using your username and password (both case-sensitive)
before you can mount the share. You can install Drobo Dashboard from
the Resource CD that came with your FS array or you can download the
latest version at: www.drobo.com/support/updates.
B. Using Your Computer Operating System
Once your FS array is set up, you can access the shares just as you would
any normal network drive or volume if you prefer not to use Drobo
Dashboard:
Windows XP
1. Open My Computer.
2. Click "My Network Places."
3. Click "Add a network place" (This opens the Add Network Places
wizard.)
4. Click Next.
5. Click "Choose another network location."
6. You can click the Browse button and locate the share you want
to access; or
you can manually enter the share name: \\drobo-fs\sharename
