a histogram on the LCD monitor.
To cancel the histogram display, press the button
again.
Note
A histogram is not displayed on the monitor screen
when the shutter speed is set to long-exposure mode
of more than 1/15 sec. If you want to display a
histogram, set the shutter speed to higher than 1/15
sec.
R LIVE button and indicator
Activates camera LIVE mode. The indicator lights
in green.
When you press the CAPTURE button to display a
still picture, the indicator goes off.
S KEY LOCK button and indicator
Disables operations of buttons/controls for
adjustments and settings of the camera by pressing
this button for more than 2 seconds. The indicator
lights in green. When you press the button again for
more than 2 seconds, the indicator turns off, and all
the buttons and controls are enabled.
The KEY LOCK button setting is maintained even
if the power is turned off.
T CAPTURE button
Pressing this button in camera LIVE mode captures
a picture in the built-in frame memory of the
camera, and the still picture is displayed on the
LCD monitor.
U Card slot
Insert a PC card or a "Memory Stick" installed in a
memory stick/PC card adaptor.
V Card eject button and access lamp
Press the button to remove a loaded card. The
access lamp lights in red during reading or writing.
Note
Do not eject the card while the access lamp is lit.
The image and card may be damaged. Also, all the
previously recorded images may be lost.
W REC (record) button
Records the still picture captured by the CAPTURE
button on a card. The access lamp lights in red
during recording.
Note
Even if you press the REC button without pressing
the CAPTURE button, capturing and then
recording will be performed automatically.
You can record the still picture captured in the
frame memory of the camera on a card.
X EV COMP (compensation) +/– buttons and
indicator
Adjusts the exposure compensation of the camera
when AE-AUTO is selected with the AE MODE
button or FL MODE is selected with the FL MODE
button. Press the + or – button to adjust the
compensation volume. The adjusted volume
differently affects the pictures in AE-AUTO or FL
MODE:
In AE-AUTO mode: The adjusted EV
compensation volume affects live images. It
also affects the still pictures as the camera
captures them with the same compensation
volume.
In FL MODE: The adjusted EV compensation
volume affects the captured still pictures.
Pressing + and – buttons simultaneously enables
you to set the EV compensation volume to ± 0,
indicating that the EV compensation is
deactivated.
Y FL MODE button and indicator
The camera is set to FL MODE when this button is
pressed and the indicator is lit in green. When
shooting a fluorescent subject with a microscope,
setting to FL MODE maximizes the camera
sensitivity, allowing you to easily adjust the focus
and determine the framing of the picture. This
allows you to shoot a high-quality still picture
simply by pressing the CAPTURE button (High-
sensitivity AE-AUTO mode for a microscope).
To cancel FL MODE, press this button again to turn
off the indicator. The AE-AUTO or AE-MANUAL
mode set with the AE MODE button is restored.
You can activate the exposure compensation with
the COMP +/– buttons. As the compensation
volume does not affect the live image, check the
exposure with the captured still picture.
Note
The live image in FL MODE may be noisy. This is
because the sensitivity in this mode is set to a
maximum value, and the camera is not
malfunctioning.
Z WB (white balance) MODE button and
MANUAL indicator
Sets the white balance mode to AUTO or
MANUAL mode.
With the WB-AUTO setting, the white balance is
automatically adjusted when you press the
WHITE button.
With the WB-MANUAL setting, you can
determine the white balance by adjusting the color
gains of the camera with the GAIN - RED or GAIN
- BLUE controls. The MANUAL indicator is lit in
red in MANUAL mode.
Note
Readjustment of the white balance is recommended
when you change the gain value with the CAM
GAIN control or change the setting of
SENSITIVITY MODE in the MAIN MENU.
