Cable extension and cable shortening

Various connection cable lengths are available for the U9C so that cable exten
sions and cable shortening are generally not necessary.
As the transducer has a four-wire configuration, the cable is also used to com
pensate the temperature dependence of the sensitivity. We therefore do not
recommend shortening the cable and cable extensions should be implemented
with six-wire configuration. Please note the operating instructions for your
amplifier system in this case. All U9C ordered with fitted connectors come with
six-wire configuration as of the connector. The connector assignment can be
found in the technical data sheet in chapter 9 on page 26 of these instructions.
Please note that the extension cable must have six wires. Such an extension
will have no influence on the measurement. If you have selected the option
"Sub HD" (for QuantumX) as the connector in combination with the option
"TEDS", you must extend with eight wires as in this case a so-called
"OneWireTEDS" is mounted and this required an additional wire.
With cable extensions, ensure that connection is perfect with a low contact
resistance and continue to connect the cable shield extensively. Note that the
protection class of your force transducer will decrease if the cable connection
is not tight and water can penetrate in the cable. Transducers can be irrepara
bly damaged and fail in these circumstances.

EMC protection

Electrical and magnetic fields can often induce interference voltages in the
measuring circuit. Please comply with the following points:
S Use shielded, low-capacitance measurement cables only (HBM cables fulfill
both conditions)
S Do not route the measurement cable parallel to power lines and control cir
cuits. If this is not possible, protect the measurement cable with metal tub
ing
S Avoid stray fields from transformers, motors and contact switches
S Please note that compensating currents flowing across the cable shield can
cause significant interferences. If the sensor and its evaluation unit have
