WARNINGS FOR DAILY USE OF THE AUTOMATION
10.1 – "Obstacle detection" function
For-Max is equipped with a safety system called "obstacle detection" which is acti-
vated when shutter travel, either up or down, is suddenly obstructed by an obstacle
(object, person etc.) or a high level of friction (formation of ice, material expansion,
etc.). In these cases, the control unit blocks the current manoeuvre immediately and
performs a short inversion.
The system is based on constant control of torque delivered by the motor (power)
during a manoeuvre. This control enables the prompt detection of sudden increases
in power (in the Up manoeuvre) or a reduction in power (in the Down manoeuvre)
when shutter movement is obstructed.
The threshold parameters that determine the system sensitivity are dynamic and are
updated automatically in the control unit memory each time the shutter comes into
contact with an obstacle or something that prevents normal movement.
Therefore in daily use of the automation, perform the following manoeuvres immedi-
ately after activation of the "obstacle detection" function:
• If the movement is interrupted by a concrete and identifiable obstacle:
remove the obstacle and activate another manoeuvre in the opposite direction to
that originally sent.
• If movement interruption does not depend on any apparent object: activate
the same manoeuvre as sent previously.
Caution! – Observance of this warning enables the "obstacle detection" func-
tion to memorise only general parameters from "real" obstacles and ignore
small hindrances or occasional friction. This enables self-calibration of the
function and intervention exclusively in the case of real hazards.
10.2 – Maximum continuous work cycle
In general the tubular motors in the "Max" range, while guaranteeing a maximum
continuous use of 4 minutes, are designed for residential applications and therefore
for discontinuous use. Therefore in the event of overheating (for example due to con-
tinuous and prolonged activation) a thermal cut-out trips automatically to shut off
power supply. Power is only restored when the temperature returns to within the nor-
mal range.
10.3 – "Auto-update of limit switches" function
Caution! – The function is only active if the limit switch has been programmed with the
procedure in "Automatic mode" or the procedure "Semiautomatic mode".
During daily use of the automation, the user will occasionally hear impact of the shut-
ter with the limit switch at the end of a manoeuvre. In these cases, impact is due to
the "Auto-update of limit switches" function, which repeats measurement of the
parameters of the two limit switch positions and updates the previously memorised
values.
The aim of this function is to compensate for expansion or shrinkage of the structure,
which occurs over time due to wear and temperature variations. This therefore
ensures that the Up and Down movements always complete the travel precisely at
the respective limit positions.
