6. Before you start

Unpack the appliance. First check whether all the parts are complete and undamaged (see "Package
contents" on page 27). If any items are missing or damaged, please phone our hotline (see "Warranty
information" on page 45). Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of
appropriately.

7. Getting started

You can place the charcoal barbecue directly on the dining table to prepare food there or use the stand
supplied to position the charcoal barbecue next to the table.
Risk of fire!

Do not place the charcoal barbecue on or near textile surfaces such as a tablecloth.

Never place the charcoal barbecue under or directly next to flammable items such as
curtains or drapes.

Maintain a clearance of at least 100 cm around the appliance to flammable and
combustible materials.

7.1 Inserting the batteries

Rechargeable batteries are not suitable for this charcoal barbecue. Use conventional alkaline
batteries only.
The battery compartment (10) is located on the underside of the housing (8).
1. Turn the charcoal barbecue upside down and carefully place it
on a sturdy and even surface.
2. Open the battery compartment cover (10). To do this, slide
your finger or fingernail under the latch of the battery
compartment cover and pull it gently in the direction of the
arrow ().
3. Insert four AA batteries into the battery compartment (10).
Always pay attention to the polarity.
4. Close the battery compartment cover (10). Make sure that the
latch engages again so that the cover cannot open and the
batteries fall out accidentally.
5. Place the charcoal barbecue upright again. The charcoal barbecue is operational.
If the grill performance deteriorates or the unit takes a long time to fire up, check or replace
the batteries.
