Depending on the carrier material, for the measured value „Non Ferr" will be displayed for
non-magnetic metals and „Ferr" for magnetic metals. If there is no material display, this
means the carrier material was not recognised and no measurement was taken. Repeat
this measurement if necessary.
Make sure there are no air bubbles between the carrier material and the coating. This will
cause a faulty measurement.
Switching the measuring mode for the detection of the carrier material
After switching on the device, the automatic metal detection is always active (Symbol „A").
This mode can be fixed manually to one metal type. However, the shift remains only active until the
measuring device switches off automatically.
To switch, proceed as follows:
The measuring instrument must be switched off.
For magnetic metals hold the key „mils/µm" (4) pressed and switch the measuring instrument on using the
measuring button (4). „FErr onLY" will appear on the display. Perform the measurement.
For non-magnetic metals hold the key „Light" (6) pressed down and switch the measuring instrument on using
the measuring button (1). „nonF onLY" will appear on the display. Perform the measurement.
Setting the alarm limits „Hi/Lo"
The alarm mode „ALM" is always activated and cannot be deactivated. This values are preset to 1.200 µm
and 0 µm by the manufacturer. The alarm limits can be changed at will. The alarm message only functions
for individual readings after releasing the measuring button.
When exceeding the Hi value an alarm signal will be emitted, when the value falls below the Lo value a
continuous signal of 2.5 s will be emitted.
Beside the symbol „ALM", the corresponding alarm („Hi" or „Lo") will be indicated on the display.
To set, proceed as follows:
The measuring instrument must be switched off.
Hold the „CAL" key pressed and press the measuring button (1). „SET Hi" is shown on the display.
Select the value for the Hi-alarm using the arrow keys (5+7). Confirm your input using the „CAL" button. The
setting menu for the Lo alarm will be opened (Display „SET Lo").
Select the value for the Lo-alarm using the arrow keys (5 + 7). Confirm your input using the „CAL" button. The
menu will be closed and goes back to the measuring mode.
MAX, MIN, MAX-MIN and AVG function
The maximum and minimum values, as well as the difference from MAX and MIN are constantly saved during
each measurement. These values can be deleted directly after switching the device on. Make sure that the
display shows „run". Press the „Zero" button briefly to delete the MAX, MIN and MAX-MIN values.
However, the average display „AVG" only refers to the saved measured values („no_1" to max. „no_255").
The AVG value will be deleted when the data logger memory is deleted.
Calibrating the measuring instrument
The meter should be calibrated frequently or after breaks before the first measurement. In order to increase
the accuracy of the measurement, the zero point calibration and the measured value calibration should
always be performed one after the other und prior to each measurement.
Zero-point calibration
Prior to each measurement, a zero point calibration is required.
Switch on the meter.
Place the measuring instrument with the sensor on one of the metal plates enclosed and press the measuring
button. Wait until the display has stabilised. Release the measuring button. Briefly press the „Zero" button.
The measured value, as well as all MAX/MIN memories are set to zero with a signal. Further measurements
can be made.
Measured value calibration
The measured value calibration should be carried out after breaks or prior to the first measurement of a series
of measurements.
Proceed as follows for measurement-calibration:
Switch the meter on.
Place the plastic reference plate on one of the enclosed metal plates. Place the measuring instrument with
the sensor on calibration plates that are lying upon each other and press the measuring button. Wait until the
display has stabilised. Release the measuring button.
Briefly press the „CAL" button. „2-Pt" appears on the display.
Set the correct value of the plastic plate using the arrow keys (5 + 7).
With the „CAL" key you can confirm the input and switch back to the normal measuring display.
Fast measurement calibration
The reference value of your plastic plate enclosed may be programmed in the device in order to perform the
measurement calibration faster.
To save the reference value in the device, proceed as follows:
The measuring instrument must be switched off.
Hold the „MAX/MIN" key pressed and press the measuring button. „SET dFut" will appear on the display
briefly and then a value will appear.
Set the value of your plastic calibration plate using the arrow keys.
With the „CAL" key you can confirm the input and switch back to the normal measuring display.
Proceed as follows for fast measurement-calibration:
Switch the meter on.
Place the plastic reference plate on one of the enclosed metal plates. Place the measuring instrument with
the sensor on calibration plates that are lying upon each other and press the measuring button. Wait until the
display has stabilised. Release the measuring button.
Press the „Zero" button for approx. 2 s. The measured value will be updated.
Further measurements can be made.
Deleting the calibration points
Due to long measuring periods, measurement errors may arise which cannot be corrected in a reliable way
by a normal calibration. In this case it is recommended to delete the calibration points for zero point and
measurement.
Proceed as follows for deletion:
The measuring instrument must be switched off.
Hold the „Zero" key pressed and press the measuring button. „CLr SET" will appear on the display.
After 2 s the measuring instrument switches to the normal measuring mode.
Now perfrom a new zero point and measurement calibration.
The meter now corresponds to the indicated specifications again.

Data logger

The measuring instrument enables the storage of up to 255 measurements which can be read out at a later
time. The data logger function is always activated and records each measurement chronologically.
The memory space is sufficient for max. 255 measured values. When all memory spaces are occupied, the
recording will not be performed any longer. After reading out, the memory can be deleted manually. This
deletion process is done for all memory spaces and is not reversible.
The number of the used storage spaces can be read out in the display mode „AVG". Here, the display of the
already occupied storage spaces is done alternately with the average value „AVG" of the saved data. They
will be displayed with „no_1" to „no_255".
The data logger can be read out and deleted as follows:
Switch the meter on.
Press the „mils/µm" button for approx. 2 s.
If none of the storage spaces contain data, „no dAtA" will be displayed and the data logger menu will be
closed automatically.
If data is available, the first storage space will be displayed.
With the arrow keys (5 + 7) the storage spaces can be selected.
With the „CAL" button you can exit the data logger menu and switch back to the measuring display.
The deletion function „CLr LoG" is between the last and the first storage space. To clear all memories press
the „CAL" button. The display goes back to the measuring mode.

Maintenance

Apart from an occasional cleaning, this measuring device is maintenance-free. Use a dry, clean, lint-free,
antistatic cloth to clean the device. Do not use any abrasive or chemical agents or detergents containing
solvents.
In purchasing the measuring instrument, you have acquired a product with state of the art
design that is operationally reliable.

Disposal
Electronic products are raw material and do not belong in the household waste. When the device
has reached the end of its service life, please dispose of it, according to the current statutory
requirements, at your local collecting site. Disposal in the domestic waste is not permitted!
Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries!
As a consumer you are required (Battery Ordinance) to responsibly dispose of all used batteries and rechar-
geable batteries; it is forbidden to throw them away with the normal household waste!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with the following
symbols, which point out that disposal in the domestic waste is prohibited. The symbols for the
relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead. You can return your used
batteries/accumulators free of charge at your community's collection points , in our subsidiaries
or wherever batteries/accumulators are sold!
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the environment!
