SETTING THE FLOW IN A SOLAR SYSTEM AND TESTING THE CONTROL
FUNCTION
Based on the surface of the installed collectors, the rated system flow has to be deter-
mined, ranging from 0.5 to 1.2 l/min for each square meter of solar collectors or according
to the manufacturer's instructions (example: for 3 solar collectors with a total surface of 6
2
m
, the rated flow in the system is 5,4 l/min, with the selected flow of 0,9 l/min per square
meter of a collector).
TESTING THE FUNCTIONING OF RPM REGULATION FOR CLASSIC BYPASS
PUMPS
Manually turn on the bypass pump to maximum rotation (see section Manual operation on
page 20). Set the speed on the bypass pump to the rate, where the pump slightly ex-
ceeds the calculated rated system flow. Use the regulation valve to adjust the flow in the
system to be equal to the calculated rated flow. On the controller, set the pump rotation to
40 % and check whether the float on the flow meter is lifted. If there is no flow in the sys-
tem, set the next rotation rate on the controller, namely 55 %, and check the flow again. If
there is still no flow, you need to set the next pump rotation rate on the controller, namely
70 %, or increase the rated system flow and repeat the procedure.
If you had to increase the initial pump rotation rate in the test, the initial phase of pump
function has to be entered into the parameter S3.2 for the R2 pump and into the parame-
ter S3.8 for the R3 pump.
TESTING THE FUNCTIONING OF PWM / 0-10V REGULATION FOR HIGH-
EFFICIENCY BYPASS PUMPS
Completely open the regulation valve for the regulation of the flow in the system. Manual-
ly set the pump speed (see page 20), where the pump achieves the rated flow in the sys-
tem. Enter this value into the parameter S3.5 for the R2 pump and into the parameter
S3.11 for the R3 pump. Now you have to check the minimum pump speed, at which the
pump still enables flow in the system. This is done by decreasing the pump speed to the
rate, where the pump still enables a constant flow in the system. Enter the minimum
pump speed into the parameter S3.2 for the R2 pump and into the parameter S3.8 for the
R3 pump.
