Application
• Systemair GmbH-Centrifugal fans of the series RVK with inte-
grated external rotor motor of the design MK in explosionproofed
design EEX e II are not ready-to-use products, but designed as
components for air-conditioning, air supply and air extraction. The
fans may only be operated when they are installed as intended,
and when safety is ensured by safety equipment according to DIN
EN 294 (DIN EN 292) or by other explosion protection measures.
• Systemair GmbH-Centrifugal fans fulfil the requirements of Draft
standard N107-2:2003(E) in respect of the choise of materials by
special protective measures in the area of possible contact sur-
faces between rotating and stationary com ponents (impeller / inlet
ring). Synthetics materials are used for the rotating part (blade ex-
tension) of the fan. In fan designs without wire support guards or
without inlet rings, the system constructor is responsible for the se-
lection of materials for the stationary periphery parts. Only mating
materials in accordance with the draft standard N107-2:2003(E)
may be utilized. Systemair GmbH-Centrifu-gal fans, marked by the
Y in the type designation (RVK_ _ _-_ _ _._ Y._ _) with integrated
external rotor motor (MK_ _ _-_ _ _._ Y._ _) in the design EEX e ll,
T1, T2, T3 or T4 acc. to EN 50 014/50 019, may not be operated
in the part load range. The use of electronical or transformatorical
controllers, with the exception of frequency inverters, is allowed.
We recommend the use of Systemair GmbH-Controllers. Control
devices from other manufacturers must have the same or higher
quality!
Safety information
• The impellers are designed for the extraction of explosive at-
mosphere from zone 1 catergory 2G and Zone 2 catergory
3G. They cannot be used for the transfer of solid components
in the transfer medium.
• Pumping mediums, which affect the fan materials, are not per-
mitted (material impeller, galvanised steel, power coated; lead-
ing electronic).
• Speed control via frequency inverter is not permitted.
• The temperature class specifications on the EX rating plate
(motor) must correspond to any possibly arising combustible
gasses or the motor must have an even higher temperature
class.
• The fan is to be operated within the ranges specified on the
type plate, see operating conditions!
• The maximum permissible operating data given on the rating
plate are valid from air density ρ=1,2 kg/m³.
• Installation, electrical connection and start-up may be per-
formed only by trained personnel, who must comply with the
relevant regulations!
- In order to prevent malfunctions and in order to protect the
motor, the motor must be separated from the mains by the
integrated PTC during an operations failure (e.g., inadmissibly
Page
high medium temperature) in connection with a triggering de-
1
vice (identification II (2) G see guideline 94/9/EG).
1-2
- max. test voltage of the PTC 2.5V
2
- A current dependent protection is not admissible and also not
3
possible as secondary protection.
3
- The motors have triplet PTC's. More than two PTC's may not
4
be connected in series, as this can lead to undefined shut-
4
downs.
4
• Ex-Motors have additional a marked outer earthing conductor
4
connection.
• Safety components, e.g., guard grilles, may neither be re-
moved nor circumvented nor put out of service!
• If by means of the construction it is not possible to exclude
the suction or the input of greater components in the impeller
area - risk of explosion of a gas-air atmosphere - a grille on the
suction side is necessary.
• Take note of the valid choise of materials according to Draft
standard N107-2:2003(E) Observe the correspon-ding notes
in the section Application and Installation !
• It is not possible to exclude a residual risk due to incorrect use,
malfunction or force majeur. The designer or constructor of the
installation must take suitable safety measures in accordance
with DIN EN 292 and specially in accordance with Draft stand-
ard N107-2:2003 (E), in order to prevent hazardous situations
arising.
• The system constructor is responsible for the maintenance of
the package sealing.
• The maintenance of the EMC guideline 89/336/EWG is only
then relevant to this product if it is connected to the standard
electricity supply grid. If this product is integrated into a system
or complemented and operated with other components (e.g.
controller units and control devices), the manufacturer or op-
erator of the entire system is responsible for the maintenance
of the EMC guideline 89/336/EWG.
• Pay attention to the notes which concern Maintenance and
Service
• The Operating Instructions are part of the product and have to
keep carefully.
Transport, storage
• Systemair GmbH-centrifugal fans are packaged at the factory
to comply with requirements for the agreed mode of trans-
port.
• Transport the fan(s) either in the original packaging or greater
fans using the transport fixtures provided (the bored holes in
the supporting arms, wall ring plates or motor housing intend-
ed for screwing in lifting eye bolts). Use suitable lifting equip-
ment.
• Do not transport the fan by the connecting cable !
• Avoid excessive vibration and shockloads.
• Be on the alert for any damage to the packaging or the fan.
• Store the fan in the original packaging in a dry area protected
from the weather or protect it from dirt and weather until final
installation.
• Avoid exposure to extreme heat and cold.
• Avoid excessive storage periods (we ecommend a one year
max.) and inspect the motor bearings for proper operation
prior to installation.
