Y-Kabel MCA-202
für den Anschluß SIDE-CHAIN
Den Anschluß für die Kanäle A und B sepa-
rat ausführen:
1) Den schwarzen Stereo-Klinkenstecker
des Y-Kabels in die Buchse SIDE-CHAIN
(24) des Kompressors stecken.
2) Den roten Mono-Klinkenstecker in den
Eingang des Equalizers stecken.
3) Den schwarzen Mono-Klinkenstecker in
den Ausgang des Equalizers stecken.
5.4 Stromversorgung
Nach dem Anschluß aller anderen Geräte
den beiliegenden Steckertransformator an
die Stromversorgungsbuchse 12 V~ (22) an-
schließen, und den Steckertransformator in
eine Steckdose (230 V~ / 50 Hz) stecken.
1) Plug the black stereo plug of the Y cable
into jack SIDE-CHAIN (24) of the com-
pressor.
2) Plug the red mono plug into the input of
the equalizer.
3) Plug the black mono plug into the output
of the equalizer.
5.4 Power supply
After connection of all other units connect
the supplied plug-in transformer to the
power supply jack 12 V~ (22), and connect
the plug-in transformer to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz).

Operation
A) If the compressor is used for processing
two different signal sources (e. g. two
instruments or two vocal music micro-
phones), all settings for the channels A
and B must be carried out separately.
Button LINK/MONO (21) must not be
pressed. Unless otherwise stated, only
channel A is described in the following
text. The operation of channel B is exact-
ly the same.
B) If a stereo signal is processed (e. g. by a
CD player), the channels A and B must be
controlled exactly in the same way. Press
button LINK/MONO (21). All settings are
now only made via the operating panel of
channel A (1) and are effective for both
channels in the same way. The only
exceptions are switches INPUT/OUT-
PUT (6) by which the level displays (7)

Bedienung
A) Wird der Kompressor zur Bearbeitung
von zwei unterschiedlichen Signalquellen
Equalizer
eingesetzt (z. B. zwei Instrumente oder
Ausgang
zwei Gesangsmikrofone), müssen alle
Einstellungen für Kanal A und B separat
ausgeführt werden. Dabei darf die Taste
Equalizer
LINK/MONO (21) nicht gedrückt sein. Im
Eingang
weiteren Text wird, falls nicht anders
angegeben, jeweils nur immer Kanal A
beschrieben. Die Bedienung des Kanals
MCL-200
B ist vollkommen identisch.
SIDE-CHAIN
B) Wird ein Stereo-Signal bearbeitet (z. B.
von einem CD-Spieler), müssen die Kanä-
le A und B exakt gleich gesteuert werden.

Dazu die Taste LINK/MONO (21) drücken.
Sämtliche Einstellungen erfolgen jetzt nur
über das Bedienfeld des Kanals A (1) und
sind für beide Kanäle gleich wirksam. Ein-
zige Ausnahmen bilden die Schalter
INPUT/OUTPUT (6), mit denen die Pegel-
anzeigen (7) zwischen den Ein- und Aus-
gangssignalen einzeln umgeschaltet wer-
den sowie die Schalter IN/OUT LEVEL
(26) zur internen Pegelanpassung.
1) Den Schalter IN/OUT LEVEL (26) auf der
Geräterückseite in die Position +4 dB
schieben.
2) Das Gerät mit der Taste POWER (3) ein-
schalten. Als Betriebskontrolle leuchtet
die LED ON (4).
3) Die Taste BYPASS/COMP. (9) drücken.
Der Kompressor ist überbrückt. Nach
dem Einschalten aller weiteren ange-
schlossenen Geräte bzw. Instrumente
müssen diese zu hören sein. Anderen-
falls alle Anschlüsse überprüfen.

1) Set switch IN/OUT LEVEL (26) at the
rear side of the unit to position +4 dB.
2) Switch on the unit with button POWER (3).
As operating control LED ON (4) lights.
3) Press button BYPASS/COMP. (9). The
compressor is bridged. After switching on
all further connected units resp. instru-
ments, they must be audible. Otherwise
check all connections.
4) Press button INPUT/OUTPUT (6). The
level display (7) indicates the input level.
In case of overdriving (the red LEDs light
permanently) reduce the input level at the
mixer resp. the output level at the signal
source.
If the response of the LED level dis-
play is too low, set switch IN/OUT LEVEL
(26) at the rear side of the unit to position
-10 dB. Thus, the signal level is internally
boosted by 14 dB. By this the output level
is not changed. If necessary, the input
level at the mixer resp. the output level at
the signal source must also be increased
until an optimum control is obtained.
4) Die Taste INPUT/OUTPUT (6) drücken.
Die Pegelanzeige (7) gibt den Eingangs-
pegel an. Bei Übersteuerung (die roten
LEDs leuchten ständig) am Mischpult
den Eingangspegel bzw. an der Signal-
quelle den Ausgangspegel reduzieren.
Ist der Ausschlag der LED-Pegelan-
zeige zu gering, den Schalter IN/OUT
LEVEL (26) auf der Geräterückseite in
die Position -10 dB schieben. Dadurch
wird intern der Signalpegel um 14 dB
angehoben. Der Ausgangspegel ändert
sich dadurch nicht. Eventuell muß auch
am Mischpult der Eingangspegel bzw. an
der Signalquelle der Ausgangspegel er-
höht werden, bis eine optimale Aussteue-
rung erreicht wird.
6.1 Kompressor einstellen
Die Taste BYPASS/COMP (9) darf nicht ge-
drückt sein. Zur einfacheren Einstellung vor-
erst das Noise Gate ausstellen. Dazu den
Regler THRESHOLD (16) des Noise Gate
ganz nach links auf die Position OFF drehen.
6.1.1 Threshold und Ratio
Den Einsatzpunkt (Schwellwert) des Kom-
pressors mit dem linken Regler THRESH-
OLD (11) einstellen und das Kompressions-
verhältnis mit dem Regler RATIO (14).
Position „1":
es erfolgt keine Kompression
Position „4":
das Verhältnis beträgt 4:1; eine Ein-
gangspegeländerung von 8 dB oberhalb
des Threshold-Wertes bewirkt eine Aus-
gangspegeländerung von 2 dB
6.1 Adjusting the compressor
Button BYPASS/COMP (9) must not be
pressed. For easier adjustment switch off
the noise gate first. Turn control THRESH-
OLD (16) of the noise gate fully counter-
clockwise to position OFF.
6.1.1 Threshold and ratio
Adjust the threshold value of the compres-
sor with the left control THRESHOLD (11)
and the compression ratio with control
RATIO (14).

THRESHOLD (11)
The level display is useful for adjusting
threshold and ratio. In order to be able to
read the output level on the LED display (7),
button INPUT/OUTPUT (6) must not be
pressed. Display GAIN REDUCTION (5)
indicates the level reduction when exceed-
ing the threshold value.
Fig. 7 on the next page shows the output
level depending on the input level at a thresh-
old value of -10 dB and different compres-
sion relations.
