b) Periodic monitoring
The function of the smoke detector is to be checked once a month. For this
purpose, keep the test button pressed till an acoustic and optical alarm is
triggered.
If the acoustic signal sounds (3* sound signal, brief pause , 3*
sound signal etc.) and the LED flashes every 0,5 seconds, as long
as the button is pressed, then smoke detector is working properly;
the battery state is in order.
c) Status- and malfunction messages
• Normal operation (no alarm)
Brief lighting up of the indicator light (LED) roughly every 32 seconds
• Alarm/ Test alarm
Flashing of the indicator lights (every 0,5 seconds) and the acoustic alarm
with the same cycle (3* sound signal, pause, 3* sound signal etc.).
• Battery replacement signal
Simultaneously (!) with the brief flashing of the indicator light (LED) a brief
chirp signal sounds. In this case, change all the batteries; see section "8.
Replacing the battery".
• Sensitivity deteriorates
If a brief "chirp" signal sounds every about 32 seconds between the periodic
lighting of the indicator lights, then the sensitivity of the smoke measuring
chamber has been restricted.
If this malfunction indication occurs, deactivate the smoke detector and
change it.
d) Resetting alarm (e.g. on wrong alarm)
For this purpose, operate the test button briefly.
