b) Batteries and accumulators

Operation of the smoke detector should be carried out exclusively
on high value 9V compound (Alkaline type) battery.
Though operation on current from an accumulator is quite
possible, operation security is not guaranteed due to the low
capacity and low voltage.
• Batteries/accumulators must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Observe the correct polarity when inserting the battery: connect the 9V -
Block correctly to the battery clip in the battery compartment.
• Do not leave the batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of their
being swallowed by children or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a
doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/accumulators can cause burning if they come
into contact with the skin. For this reason you should use suitable protective
gloves.
• Make sure that batteries/accumulators are not short-circuited, dismantled
or thrown into the fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Batteries may not be recharged. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge
accumulators that are earmarked for this.
• If not used for a longer period (e.g. in case smoke detectors are stored),
remove the inserted batteries. In this manner you can avoid damage due
to leaking, old batteries.
For safety reasons, the housing of the smoke detector
cannot be locked without batteries!
