b) Starting operation
• Connect a new 9V block battery to the battery clip of the smoke detector
observing the correct polarity and insert the block batteries into the battery
compartment.
• After inserting the batteries, the red pilot lamp/LED will flash approximately
every 32 seconds and thus indicates that the smoke detector is ready for
operation.
• Insert the smoke detector by turning it in the clockwise direction into the
mounted lower cup. If the interlocking is proper, there is an audible click;
the smoke detector must engage into the lower cup.
Please note:
Without inserted batteries, the two parts of the housing
(lower cup/smoke detector) cannot be locked for safety
reasons!
