Important installation instructions

Optimum operation can only be guaranteed when the installati-
on location is carefully selected! Accordingly, observe the follo-
wing instructions for the selection of a suitable installation loca-
tion:
• The sensor responds best to movements traversing the area of
coverage. For this reason the sensor should be positioned so
that movements across the area of coverage from one side to
the opposite side can be registered!
• The higher the sensor is mounted, the larger the area of cover-
age. However, too large an area of coverage can cause unne-
cessary switching cycles. Hence we recommend a maximum
mounting height of approx. 3 metres!
• The sensor range is dependent on the ambient temperature.
The range is greater in cold weather than in warm weather.
Range indications refer to an ambient temperature of 20°C.
• The sensor is sensitive to changes in heat radiation. The sensor
can therefore incorrectly react to objects heating up or cooling
down within the area of coverage. Reflected heat from the
surface of water or from trees moving in the wind can cause
possible temperature differences to which the sensor reacts.
• The 110° horizontal area of coverage of the sensor can be
adjusted by means of the supplied blanking strips which cover
the appropriate sensor field. The blanking strips can be used to
reduce horizontal interference effects.
• In addition take care that installation is carried out as follows:
- above head-height only on stable surfaces, e.g. masonry,
using suitable screws and wall-plugs
8
- avoid direct sunshine, rain, snow and ice
- never install above or direct towards a heat-source
- install only in locations protected from wind and rain
- avoid reflecting light onto light-coloured surfaces
- not close to ventilation outlets and other lighting
• The sensor must be able to "see" the area to be monitored!
Heat radiation travels in straight lines, but is however stopped
by glass and other solid objects. Therefore, before mounting,
take note of these or similar sources of interference!

IR Sensor installation

Once a suitable mounting location meeting the safety and
installation instruction requirements has been determined, the
next stage of the installation can be started.
Note that the installation should only be carried out by a specia-
list (electrician) and that the earth contact must without fail be
connected to the yellow/green wire!
Disconnect the power cable (switched via a light switch) from the
AC power (remove the fuse) and prevent this from being resto-
red unintentionally.
1.Mounting the Alarm Unit (Sensor)
With reference to this, take note of the following chapter

"2. Cable connection"!

The cover of the connection box can be used as a drilling
template!
