Optimum use of the Hel-X bio-elements
Ammonia and nitrite build up in the pond water due to nutrients and fish excrement. Micro-organisms that colo-
nise the Hel-X bio-elements, feed off these substances and remove these toxins from the pond water. The
more nutrients contained in the pond water, the more micro-organisms colonise the Hel-X bio-elements.
The mobility of the Hel-X bio-elements in the container is essentially dependent on their colonisation with mi-
cro-organisms.
• Hel-X bio-elements that are not colonised or contain few micro-organisms are light and float on the surface.
This can cause them to cluster at the surface of the water.
• Well-colonised Hel-X bio-elements are heavy and float in the water, allowing them to be moved around in
the water better.

Remedy
–
Increase the quantity of Hel-X bio-elements until approx. 50 % of the Hel-X bio-
elements are floating on the surface of the water. Wait until all Hel-X bio-ele-
ments are floating in the water (this can take several weeks).
• If necessary, repeat the process until the desired water values are achieved.
• Do not fill the container with more than the max. permissible quantity of X-Hel
bio-elements.
In the case of new Hel-X bio-elements, wait until the colonisation is complete
(this can take several weeks).
• Tip: Reduce the air quantity to approx. 1000 l/h during the colonisation stage.
In the case of fully colonised Hel-X bio-elements, remove a number of Hel-X
bio-elements until they start moving freely again.
• Tip: A small quantity of fully colonised Hel-X bio-elements is more effective
than a large quantity of incompletely colonised Hel-X bio-elements.
If the lack of movement of the Hel-X bio-elements does not improve even after
several weeks, there are too many Hel-X bio-elements in the container.
• Remove a number of Hel-X bio-elements until they start moving freely again.
• To achieve acceptable ammonia and nitrite values, install an additional filter
module ProfiClear Moving Bed.
Determine any other causes for the increased ammonia and nitrite values and
remedy.
Remedy
Switch on the filter pump, connect the power plug.
Clean the supply and/or return.
Clean, replace if necessary.
Check hose, and replace if necessary.
Reduce line length to necessary minimum.
Use more Hel-X bio-elements if necessary.
The full biological cleaning effect is only achieved after
several weeks.
Correct the position of the meshed tube.
Replace the meshed tube.
Replace the aerator rod.
Check the aerator pump.
The colonisation of the bio-elements with bacteria is a nat-
ural process and takes several weeks. Wait.
