Avoid any malfunctions that might impair safety and, if necessary,
eliminate them without delay.
Intended use
- Depending on the characteristic selected, this battery charger
is designed to charge batteries filled with liquid or gel-like
electrolyte (lead-antimony, calcium-lead).
- The charging of primary cells (dry or disposable batteries) is
not permitted.
The battery charger is tested to protection class IP31, i.e.:
- Protection against contact with tools, wires or similar objects
with diam. > 2.5mm
- Protection against vertically falling dripping water
Machine set-up regulations:
- Function-tested .................... - 20 °C to + 50 °C
- Component specifications .. Climatic category B
- Atmospheric humidity .......... 5 % to 85 %
When using this appliance, make sure that
- it is in a horizontal position (see Fig. 1),
- it is protected from direct insolation and kept dry
- the vent holes are kept clear to allow cooling air to flow.

Alterations to the battery charger
- Do not make any alterations, installations or modifications to
the appliance without getting permission from the manufacturer
first.

equipment is in perfect working condition.
- Before switching on the battery charger, make sure that no
Foot
persons are jeopardized.
- Before disconnecting the charging lines, push the Stop button
to ensure that the battery charger is disconnected from the
power supply.
- Check the battery charger at least once a week for externally
visible damage and deficiencies, and make sure that all safety
equipment is in proper working condition.
Risks caused by mains and charging current
- Always be sure to connect the charging lines to the correct
terminals.
- Make sure that the charging cables are firmly attached,
undamaged and properly insulated. Replace any loose
connections and scorched cables immediately.
- Both the mains and the appliance supply leads must be
regularly checked by a qualified electrician to ensure that the
PE conductor is functioning correctly.
- Before opening up the battery charger, make absolutely sure
that it is electrically "dead". Discharge any components that
may store an electrical charge.
- The unit may only be connected up to a power socket with a
PE (earth) conductor. We also recommend a current-operated
e.l.c.b protection device as an extra safety measure.
- Ensure the correct mains voltage! The information on the
rating plate of your battery charger must be in accordance
with the specifications of your local electricity supply network.
Risks caused by accumulators
- Accumulator acid is caustic. Avoid any contact with the eyes,
the skin or the clothes. Immediately flush acid splashes with
clear water and, if necessary, consult a doctor.
- The electrolytic gas forming during the charge is highly
inflammable. Keep ignition sources (naked flames, lighted
cigarettes) away from the battery. Also refrain from
disconnecting the charging lines during the charge due to the
risk of sparking.
- The charge may only be performed in properly ventilated
rooms that are intended for this use.
- Service the battery according to the instructions given by the
manufacturer and protect it from dirt and mechanical damage.
- Protect battery from dirt and mechanical damage.
- Maintain battery to manufacturer's specifications.
- Always start with battery filled with acid (electrolyte) to the
max. marked level.
- User to make a weekly visual check of battery (equal acid level
in all cells).
- Unequal acid level and/or high water consumption in the
individual cells may be attributable to a battery defect.
