7. Commissioning

7.2 DMX Connection

You can operate a maximum of 32 devices in a DMX chain without overloading the controller.
The maximum total length of the DMX chain should not exceed 500m.
Use of XLR microphone cables may cause interferences in the DMX signal transmission. In this
case, please use special DMX high-frequency cables.

Connection of a DMX controller

Only connect the device to a DMX controller with a DMX-512 protocol.
• Connect the port DMX IN (5) with the output of the DMX controller.
• The controller must have 4 free control channels.
• Connect DMX OUT (6) with the DMX input of the subsequent device. If the effect light is the last or the only device
in the DMX chain, insert an XLR plug with a 120 ohm/0.25 W terminating resistor here (between Pin2 and Pin3).
Pin assignment of the DMX connection: Pin1 = ground / Pin2 = (-) / Pin3 = (+)
Never connect the earth pin GND to the casing ground of the effect light; this may result in interference
in signal transmission caused by ground loops.
