d) Operation
• With this charger, you can charge up to four rechargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries
of the sizes AA/Mignon and AAA/Micro (rated voltage 1.2 V). Never insert other
rechargeable batteries (e.g. lithium or nickel-zinc batteries) or non-rechargeable
batteries into the charger. There is a high risk of fire or explosion!
• Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation during operation; never cover the charg-
er or the power adapter. Leave sufficient distance (at least 20 cm) between the
charger and other objects. Overheating poses a risk of fire!
• The charger is only intended to be used with a stabilised direct current of 12 V/DC
(using the power adapter supplied, for example).
• Never leave the product unattended during use. The charger comes with a range
of safety mechanisms to ensure safe use. However, malfunctions may still occur
from time to time.
• When handling the charger or rechargeable batteries, never wear metal or con-
ductive objects (e.g. jewellery such as necklaces, bracelets or rings); in the event
of a short circuit there is a risk of fire or an explosion.
• Placing metallic leads and contacts between rechargeable battery and charging
slot is not permitted! Insert the batteries directly into the battery charger.
• Do not connect the charging channels of the charger to one another.
• Only use the product in temperate climates. It is not suitable for use in tropical
climates. Refer to the "Technical data" section for information on the permitted
ambient conditions.
• Do not use the charger in the immediate vicinity of strong magnetic or electromag-
netic fields, transmitter aerials or HF generators. These may affect the electronic
control system.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room
into a warm one. This may generate condensation, which can cause the product
to malfunction or damage the interior components. The power adapter also poses
the risk of a fatal electric shock.
Allow the product to reach room temperature before using it. This may take sev-
eral hours.
• If the product is not going to be used for an extended period of time (e.g. stor-
age), disconnect it from the mains by removing the power adapter from the mains
socket.
