7. Information relevant to batteries and rechargeable batteries
Despite the fact that handling batteries and rechargeable batteries in daily life nowadays is
a matter of fact, there are still numerous dangers and problems involved. In particular with
LiPo/LiIon rechargeable batteries with their high energy content (in comparison with conven-
tional NiCd or NiMH rechargeable batteries) various regulations must be imperatively observed
as otherwise there is danger of explosion and fire.
Thus, imperatively observe the following information and safety measures when handling bat-
teries and rechargeable batteries.
Keep batteries/rechargeable batteries out of reach of children.
Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries being swallowed
by children or pets. In such a case, seek instant medical care!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is
danger of explosion!
Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries might cause acid burns when getting into contact
with skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
Conventional batteries must not be charged. Danger of fire and explosion! Only charge rechargeable bat-
teries, which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery chargers. Batteries (1.5V)
are meant to be used once only and must be disposed of when empty.
When inserting batteries/rechargeable batteries or when connecting a battery pack observe correct
polarity (note plus/+ and minus/-). Wrong polarity may damage the transmitter, the airplane and the
accumulators. There is also a risk of fire and explosion!
If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. storage), remove the inserted batteries (or
rechargeable batteries) from the remote control to avoid damage from leaking batteries/rechargeable
batteries.
Recharge the rechargeable batteries about every 3 months, as otherwise there may be a total discharge
due to self-discharge, which makes the rechargeable batteries useless.
Always exchange the entire set of batteries or rechargeable batteries in the remote control transmitter.
Do not mix full batteries/rechargeable batteries with half-full ones Always use batteries or rechargeable
batteries of the same type and manufacturer.
Never mix batteries and storage batteries!
The charger (plug-in power supply unit and charge adaptor/balancer) is designed for suitable 2 or 3
cell LiPo/LiIon rechargeable batteries. Never try to use it for charging different rechargeable batteries.
Danger of fire and explosion!
Never charge the flight battery included in the delivery immediately after use. Always leave the recharge-
able battery cool off first (at least 10-15 minutes).
Only charge an intact and undamaged rechargeable battery. If the external insulation of the rechargeable
battery is damaged or if the rechargeable battery is warped or bloated, it must not be charged. In this
case there is serious danger of fire and explosion!
