Installing the high pressure
connections
For installation, please follow the specifica-
tions of the VDMA sheet 24416 "High pres-
sure cleaners; fixed high pressure cleaning
systems; concepts, requirements, installa-
tion, testing" (the German version can be
procured from Beuth Verlag, Cologne,
www.beuth.de).
– The pressure loss in the pipe connec-
tions must lie below 1.5 MPa.
– The completed pipe connections must
be checked using 24 MPa.
– The insulation of the pipes must be re-
sistant to temperatures until 100 °C.
– The fixed pipe network should be
placed as straight as possible. High
pressure piping systems should be in-
stalled correctly with removable and
fixed clips, taking into consideration the
variation in length caused by the effects
of heat and pressure.
In order to keep pressure losses in the high
pressure piping as small as possible, we
recommend the following:
Flow rate
Piping
16.7 l/min
NW 10 (3/8")
(1,000 l/h)
33.3 l/min
NW 15 (1/2")
(2,000 l/h)
50 l/min
NW 15 (1/2")
(3,000 l/h)
66.7 l/min
NW 20 (3/4")
(4,000 l/h)
83.3 l/min
NW 20 (3/4")
(5,000 l/h)
100 l/min
NW 25 (1")
(6,000 l/h)
In regards to the above mentioned stand-
ard values, the length of the pipes and the
number of direction changes and fittings
must be taken into account.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage to the plant if water supply
is not of suitable quality.
Note: Impurities in the inlet water can dam-
age the unit. Kärcher recommends a water
filter with a mesh width of < 80 μm.
Quality requirements for tap water:
pH value
electrical conductivity
removable materials
filterable materials (grain
size below 0.025 mm)
Hydrocarbons
Chloride
Calcium
Total hardness
Iron
Manganese
Copper
free of bad odours
* Test volume 1litre, Settling time 30 min-
utes
Hose lines
** decalcification measures are necessary
if the values are higher
NW 8
 The water inlet is to be connected to the
main water supply using a water hose.
NW 12
– HDI 30/10: The water supply must have
a minimum output of 3,200 l/h at mini-
NW 12
mum 0.15 MPa (with float container) or
0.01 MPa (without float container).
NW 16
– HDI 38/12: The water supply must have
a minimum output of 4,000 l/h at mini-
NW 16
mum 0.15 MPa (with float container) or
0.01 MPa (without float container).
NW 20
– Appliances without prepressure pump:
The water temperature must lie below
60 °C.
– Machines with prepressure pump: The
water temperature must lie below
80 °C.
– The water supply must designed for
continuous operation.
– If the advance pressure is too high or in
case of peaks in the line system, it is
absolutely necessary to install a pres-
sure reducer.

Electrical connection

Note: Operating procedures create short
term power sinkings. During unfavorable
net conditions other devices might be dis-
turbed.
ATTENTION
The highest allowed net impedance at the
electrical connection point (refer to techni-
cal data) is not to be exceeded. In case of
confusion regarding the power impedance
present on your connection, please contact
your utilities provider.
– For connection values, see technical
data and type plate.
– The electrical connections must be
done by an electrician according to IEC
60364-1.

– Current-carrying parts, cables and ap-
pliances in the working area must be in-
stalled in a defectless state and must be
protected against water sprays.
– The electric connection must be de-
signed for continuous operation.
– The electrical connection is made on
the control for the entire high pressure
cleaning system.
DANGER
To avoid accidents due to electrical faults
we recommend the use of sockets with a
line-side current-limiting circuit breaker
(max. 30 mA nominal tripping current).
Compressed air supply
ATTENTION
In order to avoid damage to the com-
pressed air drive by condensation wear
and lack of lubrication, install a mainte-
nance unit into the compressed air supply.
The maintenance unit consists of:
– Water separator
– Pressure regulator with manometer
– Proportional oiler
 Fill the proportional oiler with suitable
lubrication oil by unscrewing the reser-
voir and filling it with lubricating oil.
Initial Start-Up
 Rinse the firmly installed pipe at the in-
stallation site. Check that the entire high
pressure system is assembled correctly
and is not leaky.
 Check the function of the calcification
unit if necessary.
 Check the water supply for the required
feed volume and permissible tempera-
ture.
 Create the overflow drain line of the
swimmer tank.
 Create an over pressure line on the
safety valve.
 Cut off tip of oil container cover
 Check oil level of the high pressure
pump.

Warranty

The warranty terms published by our com-
petent sales company are applicable in
each country. We will repair potential fail-
ures of the appliance within the warranty
period free of charge, provided that such
failure is caused by faulty material or de-
fects in fabrication.
