11. Tips and Notices

Range and Interferences
• The outdoor sensor works in a range of 868 MHz, which is also used by other
radio services. This may restrict the function and the range of other
appliances working on the same respectively a neighbouring sequence.
• The stated range of up to 100 m is the free-field range, meaning the range
between sender and receiver upon sight contact. In practical operation,
however, there are walls, ceilings etc. between the sender and the receiver,
which reduce the range accordingly.
Further Causes for Reduced Ranges:
• Radio frequency interferences of all kinds
• Construction of any kind and vegetation
• Conductive metal parts located close to respectively within or near the radio
distance, e.g. radiators, metal-frame insulated glass windows, reinforced
concrete ceilings, etc.
• Influence of the antenna's radiation characteristics due to the distance from
the sender or receiver to conductive surfaces or objects (also to the human
body or the floor).
• Broadband interferences in urban areas that reduce the signalnoise ratio;
the signal is no longer detected in this „noise".
• Irradiation from badly screened electronic appliances, e.g. computers
operated with open casings, or similar.
