11.- Rhythm accompaniment

a) Selecting a rhythm accompaniment, starting/stopping playback

The keyboard features a total of 200 different rhythm accompaniment presets. You can select a rhythm accompaniment to be
played back in the background.
A table containing all rhythm accompaniment presets is available in Appendix B (Chapter 17). The rhythm accompani-
ments 90–99 and 190–199 can only be heard with auto bass chord mode activated (see Chapter 12. a) when a chord is
played.
Proceed as follows to select a rhythm accompaniment („STYLE"):
• Push the „STYLE" button (22).
• Use the „DATA DIAL" (18) or the „+"/„-" keys (20) to select the desired rhythm accompaniment (available settings: „000" to
„199").
If you wish to use the keypad to select a rhythm accompaniment, you must always input a three-digit number. To select rhythm
accompaniment 3, input „003"; for rhythm accompaniment 56, input „056".
• Use the „FILL-IN A" button (27) or „FILL-IN B" button (28) to select one of two variations for the selected rhythm accompani-
ment.
As a rule, variation „A" is simpler (e.g. less drumming) and variation „B" is more complex (e.g. more and more diverse
drumming). The display shows „NOR" in variation „A" is selected and „VAR" in variation „B".
• If you switch to another rhythm accompaniment during rhythm accompaniment playback, the current tempo (e.g. „90") is kept.
See Chapter 11. f) on setting the tempo.
• Push the „START/STOP" button (24) to start/stop rhythm accompaniment playback.
b) Sync start
This function allows you to start playback of a selected rhythm accompaniment by pushing a key on the keyboard (playback starts
when a key is pushed).
• If a rhythm accompaniment is already playing back, first pause playback (briefly push the „START/STOP" button (24).
• Push the „SYNC" button (29). The beat indicator starts flashing on the LC display and the red LED above the „SYNC" button lights
up.
• Playback of the rhythm accompaniment starts when a key on the keyboard is pushed.
With the „A.B.C." function („AUTO BASS CHORD") activated (a small symbol next to „A.B.C." at the left of the display is
visible), playing a correct chord starts not only rhythm accompaniment but also melody accompaniment (depending on
the chord played). The chord played is shown on the display.

c) Intro/ending

You can play an intro or ending with a special sound/rhythm (depending on the current accompanying rhythm setting) to a selected
rhythm accompaniment.
Intro
Push the „INTRO/ENDING" button (25). Some rhythm accompaniments are introduced with a special intro beat. „NOR" flashes on
the display during this time.
Ending
During playback of a rhythm accompaniment, push the „INTRO/ENDING" button (25). Some rhythm accompaniments are ended
with a special outro beat. „NOR" flashes on the display during this time.
If you push the „FILL-IN A" button (27) or „FILL-IN B" button (28) during the outro, rhythm accompaniment playback will
continue after a fill beat is played.
