10. Instruments and effects

a) Selecting instrument
The keyboard features a total of 162 different instruments. When the keyboard is turned on, the default setting is always the inst-
rument „00" (= „GrdPiano" = grand piano).
A table containing all instruments is available in Appendix A (Chapter 16).
Proceed as follows to select an instrument:
• Push the „VOICE" button (21).
• Use the „DATA DIAL" (18) or the „+"/„-" keys (20) to select the desired instrument (available settings: „000" to „161").
If you wish to use the keypad to select an instrument, you must always input a three-digit number. To select instrument 3, input
„003"; for instrument 56, input „056".
• You can now use the keys to play the selected instrument.
Our tip: If the sound of the instrument seems to vibrate oddly, the „VIBRATO" lever (40) for the vibrato effect (at the left
edge of the keyboard) may have been accidentally moved. Pull the lever all the way toward yourself to deactivate the
vibrato effect.

b) Selecting the piano instrument

Push the „PIANO" button (19) to directly select the piano instrument with correct presettings regardless of any other settings. If a
rhythm/melody accompaniment is playing back, it will end automatically.
Push the „PIANO" button (19) again to switch back to the previous settings.

c) Dual mode

This function allows you to play two instruments at the same time on the keyboard, e.g. piano and drums.
Proceed as follows:
• First select the first instrument following the instructions in Chapter 10 a), e.g. „016". See the indicator „VOICE 1" (first instru-
ment) on the display.
• Push the „DUAL" button (36). The indicator on the display now shows „VOICE 2" (second instrument), the previously set instru-
ment is shown in the upper display line. A small symbol next to „DUAL" at the bottom right of the display is also visible.
• Use the „DATA DIAL" (18) or the „+"/„-" keys (20) to select the desired instrument (available settings: „000" to „161").
When dual mode is activated, use the „VOICE" button (21) to switch back and forth between both instruments. The cur-
rently selected instrument („VOICE 1" or „VOICE 2") is shown on the display and can be set using the „DATA DIAL", the
„+"/„-" buttons or the keypad as described above.
Dual mode is only possible in the upper section of the keyboard, see Chapter 10. j).
• Push the „DUAL" button (36) again to turn off the dual effect. The small symbol at the bottom right of the display next to „DUAL"
disappears.

d) Sostenuto (sustain) effect

Push the „SUSTAIN" button (34) to turn the sostenuto effect on/off.
When the effect is turned on („SUSTAIN" is shown in the middle of the display), the sound of the instrument is sustained after the
keys are released.
