7. Connection and operation

a) Set-up

Set up the keyboard on a stable, even surface only. A special keyboard stand is ideal to this end.
Protect valuable furniture surfaces with a suitable pad to prevent scratching, denting or staining.
b) Connecting the power adapter
• Turn off the keyboard using the on/off switch (2). The button protrudes slightly more when in the off position than in the on posi-
tion (see image next to the on/off switch).
• Turn the volume control „MASTER VOL" (3) counter clockwise all the way to the left.
• Connect the power adapter's low-voltage jack to the corresponding socket (46) on the back of the keyboard.
• Plug the power adapter into a properly installed household power outlet.
c) Connecting headphones
You can connect commercially available headphones to the headphones jack „PHONES" (45) on the back of the keyboard.
Playback via the built-in speakers deactivates automatically when headphones are connected.
Proceed as follows to connect headphones:
• Turn down the keyboard volume by turning the volume control „MASTER VOL" (3) counter clockwise all the way to the left.
• Connect your headphones to the headphones jack „PHONES" (45).
• Set a low volume and check the volume by playing a note on the keyboard; carefully put on the headphones. Now set the volume
as desired.
Please note:
Excessive volume poses a risk of hearing damage. For this reason, always set a volume that feels comfortable and is not
too loud!
d) Connecting an external amplifier
The audio signal (line level) can be output to an external amplifier via both cinch jacks (44) (red cinch jack = right stereo signal,
white cinch jack = left stereo signal).
Proceed as follows to connect headphones:
• Turn down the keyboard volume by turning the volume control „MASTER VOL" (3) counter clockwise all the way to the left. Turn
the keyboard off.
Also turn the volume on the amplifier to the lowest setting or turn the amplifier off.
• Connect both cinch jacks (44) using a suitable cable e.g. the AUX input of your amplifier (or another input with line level e.g.
„TAPE-IN", „CD-IN", etc.) Do not use the „PHONO" input.
• Turn the keyboard and the amplifier on and turn the volume on both to a low setting. Check the volume e.g. by playing on the
keyboard. Now turn up the volume if desired.
Please note:
Excessive volume poses a risk of hearing damage. For this reason, always set a volume that feels comfortable and is not
too loud!
