εethod of operation
τnly use in good light and visibilityέ During the winter season beware of slippery
●
or wet areas, ice and snow (risk of slipping)έ Always ensure a safe footingέ
σever cut above waist heightέ
●
σever stand on a ladderέ
●
σever climb up into trees to perform cutting operationέ
●
σever work on unstable surfacesέ
●
Remove sand, stones, nails etcέ found within the working rangeέ
●
όoreign particles may damage the cutting tool and can cause dangerous kickά
backsέ
Before commencing cutting, the cutting tool must have reached full working
●
speedέ
When using metal blades, swing the tool evenly in halfάcircle from right to left,
●
like using a scytheέ
If grass or branches get caught between the cutting tool and guard, always
stop the engine before cleaningέ τtherwise unintentional blade rotation may
cause serious injuryέ
Take a rest to prevent loss of control caused by fatigueέ We recommend to take
●
a 1ί to βίάminute rest every hourέ
Do not let the cutting tool touch on the ground during operationέ τtherwise the
●
cutting tool hit an object and may result in personal injuryέ
Keep the metal blade parallel with the ground during operationέ
●
Cutting Tools
Use an applicable cutting tool for the job in handέ
●
σylon cutting heads (string trimmer heads) are suitable for trimming lawn
grassέ
εetal blades are suitable for cutting weeds, high grasses, bushes, shrubs,
underwood, thicket, and the likeέ
σever use other blades including metal multiάpiece pivoting chains and lail
bladesέ τtherwise serious injury may resultέ
When using metal blades, avoid "Kickback" and always prepare for an
●
accidental kickbackέ See the section "Kickback"έ
Kickback (blade thrust)
Kickback (blade thrust) is a sudden reaction to a caught or bound metal bladeέ
●
τnce it occurs, the equipment is thrown sideway or toward the operator at
great force and it may cause serious injuryέ
Kickback occurs particularly when applying the blade segment between 1β and
●
β o'clock to solids, bushes and trees with γ cm or larger diameterέ
To avoid kickbackμ
●
Apply the segment between κ and 11 o'clockν
–
σever apply the segment between 1β and β o'clockν
–
σever apply the segment between 11 and 1β o'clock and between β and
–
η o'clock, unless the operator is well trained and experienced and does it at
hisήher own riskν
σever use metal blades close to solids, such as fences, walls, tree trunks
–
and stonesν
σever use metal blades vertically, for such operations as edging and
–
trimming hedgesέ
Vibration
People with poor circulation who are exposed to excessive vibration may
●
experience injury to blood vessels or the nervous systemέ Vibration may cause
the following symptoms to occur in the ingers, hands or wristsμ "όalling asleep"
(numbness), tingling, pain, stabbing sensation, alteration of skin color or of the
skinέ If any of these symptoms occur, see a physician!
To reduce the risk of "white inger disease", keep your hands warm during
●
operation and well maintain the equipment and accessoriesέ
εaintenance instructions
ώave your equipment serviced by our authorized service center, always using
●
only genuine replacement partsέ Incorrect repair and poor maintenance can
shorten the life of the equipment and increase the risk of accidentsέ
The condition of the cutter, in particular of the cutting tool of the protective
●
devices and also of the harness must be checked before commencing workέ
Particular attention is to be paid to the metal blades which must be correctly
sharpenedέ
Turn off the engine and remove spark plug connector when replacing or
●
sharpening cutting tools, and also when cleaning the cutter or cutting toolέ
