4. Display explained
After connecting the Dew Check to the HPM 3000+, measurements are carried out continuously and
shown on the display of the HPM 3000+ (real-time measurement).
You now receive the following 4 values on the display of the HPM 3000+:
Surface temperature ( IR temperature )
Air temperature
Dew point temperature
Relative air humidity

5. Carrying out measurements

5.1. Temperature measurement via infrared temperature sensor (IR temp):
Position the Dew Check sensor vertically on the required object.
The surface temperature is determined automatically via the integral infrared temperature sensor. To enable
better aiming of the required measuring object, you can let an LED fl ash by pressing the [down arrow] key of
the HPM 3000+. At the same time, the light cone of the LED corresponds exactly to the measuring range
of the infrared temperature sensor. The greater the distance to the object, the greater the measuring range.
The measuring distance to the object must not be greater than 100 cm.
If the ascertained surface temperature is less than the dew point temperature shown in the display of the
HPM 3000 +, this means there is condensation on the surface of the object.
Refrain from further work (e.g. coating).
5.2 Measuring the air temperature
The temperature sensor installed in the Dew Check continuously determines the air temperature. The value
is shown as a real-time measurement in the display
5.3 Measuring the relative air humidity (rel. humidity)
The relative air humidity in % indicates how much humidity the air has assumed at a defi nite temperature.
5.4 Measuring the dew point temperature (dew temp.)
The warmer the air, the more humidity it can assume. If this temperature cools down below the dew point,
condensation will occur, becoming visible in moisture misting.
The dew point temperature depends on the air temperature and relative air humidity. The Dew Check auto-
matically determines the dew point temperature from these values. During the drying phase of coatings, the
dew point temperature must not be reached or fallen below (risk of later complaints). In this case, ensure that
the ambient temperature is higher than the dew point temperature shown in the display (e.g. with Storch Opti
Air, art.no. 61 40 00 ).
