Troubleshooting

Mechanical system/Pump area
Fault
Low flow rate
The motor is running, but
the piston is not moving.
Cause
1. Spray tip worn
2. Spray tip clogged
3. Material container emp-
ty
4. Intake screen clogged
5. Inlet valve ball and/or
piston ball not moving fre-
ely/not sealing
6. Suction hose connec-
tions
7. Device filter, gun filter
or tip is clogged or dirty.
8. Bypass switch is leaking
9. Make sure the pump
does not continue to cycle
when gun trigger is relea-
sed. (Bypass switch is lea-
king.)
10. Leak in the packing
nuts area; this may indicate
worn or damaged seals.
11. Piston rod damaged
12. Low cut-out pressure
13. Piston seals are worn or
damaged
Piston rod damaged or mis-
sing.
Big end bearings defective.
Transmission damage.
Perform Pressure Relief Procedure.
Activity
1. Follow Pressure Relief procedure warning, then replace
tip.
2. Relieve the pressure. Check and clean spray tip.
3. Fill the container, vent the device, suction of material
4. Remove and clean, then reinstall
5. Remove intake valve and clean. Check the balls and
seats for defects and nicks; replace if necessary; strain the
paint before use in order to remove impurities that could
cause clogging.
6. Tighten any loose connections. Check for missing or
damaged seals.
7. Clean filter;
8. Relieve the pressure. Check the intake valve and seals.
9. See 4 and 8.
10. Replace seals; also check the piston rod for hardened
paint residues or nicks and replace if necessary. Tighten
packing nut.
11. Replace.
12. Turn pressure knob fully clockwise. Make sure the
pressure control knob is correctly assembled and that it
can be rotated fully clockwise. If the problem persists,
replace the pressure sensor.
13. Replace gasket and seal.
Replace piston rod pin if missing. Be sure retainer spring
is fully in groove all around connecting rod.
Replace big end bearings.
Check transmission for damage and replace if necessary.
