b) electromagnetic fields (transformers, motors, in-
ductors, relays, contactors, electromagnets etc.)

• Do not use the multimeter immediately before, du-
ring or straight after a thunderstorm (lightning stro-
ke! / high-energy overvoltages!). Make sure that
your hands, shoes, clothes, the ground, the multime-
ter and the measuring leads are absolutely dry.
• If there is reason to believe that safe operation has
become impossible, the instrument must be put out
of operation and secured against unintended opera-
tion. It can be assumed that safe operation is no lon-
ger possible, if
- the multimeter shows visible damages
- the multimeter no longer works
- it was stored under unfavourable conditions for a
long period of time or
- it was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by
transport.
