Beauty device with UV element
The functioning of the beauty device is described in the previous section.
There is an additional tanning effect through the UV lamps.
The primary technical components of a tanning device are an artificial source
of UV radiation and a mechanical structure with a defined active surface.
Different tanning results can be achieved in varying strength tanning devices.
On one hand, this is due to the different strength UV lamps and, on the other
hand, the different UV-A and UV-B proportions of the UV radiation. Whereas
the UV-A proportion primarily generates a superficial tan, which appears rap-
idly and is intensive but also fades more rapidly, the UV-B radiation is primar-
ily responsible for more long-term tanning results. The disadvantage of the
UV-B radiation is that the tan does not become visible until one or two days
after visiting the tanning salon. Therefore, the appropriate tanning device is to
be selected depending on the desired tanning goal.
The device described here releases UV-A and UV-B radiation.
There are 2 different selection possibilities for the combination of beauty and
tanning device:
for BEAUTY & SUN the proportion of UV radiation is up to 30 %.
for SUN & BEAUTY the proportion of the UV radiation is higher than the
proportion of the Beauty Light lamps, depending on the skin type and
base tan.
The aging of the skin through UV radiation is counteracted during use by the
combination of Beauty Light and UV lamps.
Sensor
The sensor establishes the current UV tolerance and the base tan of human
skin. The sensor measures right down into the lower skin layers, so that not
just the superficial skin colouring is assessed.
The first tanning session must be a test session, in order to establish if there
are any unexpected effects from the UV radiation. For the test tanning a
minimum dosage of 100 J/m
age is always emitted automatically during the tanning session if no skin ar-
eas are being measured and the sensor stays in the station from the very
beginning.
The sensor must be used from the second tanning onwards, so that an opti-
mum tan can be achieved.
Since the face usually receives more exposure to the natural rays of the sun
than other parts of the body, two measurements are carried out before each
tanning session:
one on the forehead and
another at the lightest part of the body to be tanned, for example on the
inside of your forearm.
Based on these measurements, the necessary lamp output is then independ-
ently set for the head and the body area. The tanning time remains the same
for all tanning sessions.
