18.6 Checking the hydraulic oil level
m Caution
First lower all attachments to the ground and
then switch off the engine.
Important!
Wipe away sand and dust in the area of the oil fill-
er opening before topping up the oil. Make sure
that you use the same type of hydraulic fluid.
Important!
The excavator was filled with hydraulic fluid be-
fore delivery. See "RECOMMENDED OIL TYPES".
(Different brands must not be mixed!)
1. Move the excavator on level ground. Extend all
cylinder rods to their centre position and place the
bucket on the ground.
2. Check whether the oil level is at the centre mark
at a normal temperature of 10 °C to 30 °C.
3. There is sufficient oil if the oil level is between the
markings.
4. If the oil level is too low, add enough oil through
the filler opening before starting the engine. This
step is important to protect the hydraulic system.
