RCM 880 / 890
4.4 Connecting the Supply Voltage and Analogue Output
CAUTION
Connect only voltage-free cables. Incorrect connection may result in damage
to the equipment or personal injury.
IMPORTANT
Use ESD protective equipment during connection to avoid electrostatic dis-
charge.
The RCM 880 / 890 room condition monitor has an integrated, active 3-channel transmitter
that transmits the measured values as a current or voltage signal to your control system. The
connection options vary depending on the model:
RCM 880 / 890 without integrated galvanic isolation module
•
In this case the supply voltage and the analogue outputs are directly galvanically con-
nected. Interference may occur in EMC-impaired environments or with long cable runs.
As an alternative to direct connection, an additional DC/DC converter with galvanic isola-
tion or an isolation amplifier can be used.
RCM 880 / 890 with integrated galvanic isolation module
•
This variant offers integrated galvanic isolation in the direct connection. It is not neces-
sary to combine it with an additional galvanically isolated DC/DC converter. However, if a
passive output signal is required, or if intrinsically safe isolation is required, it is possible
to use an isolation amplifier for the analogue outputs.

Connect the supply voltage and the analogue output in one of the following ways:
1. Direct Connection Without Integrated Galvanic Isolation Module (see section 4.4.1)
2. Direct Connection With Integrated Galvanic Isolation Module (see section 4.4.2)
3. Connection via an Additional Galvanically Isolated DC/DC Converter
(see section 4.4.3)
4. Connection via an Isolation Amplifier (see section 4.4.4)
