5 Assembly / installation

The pumps in the STS80 and STS100 series are intended for the following types of installation:
transportable wet-well installation
stationary wet-well installation
When planning out and operating sewage installations, please always refer to the applicable
local provisions and regulations governing sewage technology.
For stationary installation in particular, please note that water hammering can occur when
pumping through long lengths of pressure piping (in particular where the piping rises continuously
or traverses marked contours). Water hammering can destroy the pump or installation and result in
noise disturbances as the valve moves. These problems can be avoided by taking suitable
measures, such as setting a fixed closing time for the non-return valve, laying the pressure piping
out appropriately or installing a pressure balance valve with a floating ball.
5.1 Assembly
The pump must be installed in a frost-free place.
The shaft must be free from coarse solids (e.g. building rubble) prior to installation and
commissioning.
Lifting gear will be required to transport the pump to the installation location. This gear
must be provided by the customer.
ATTENTION!
"Original Wilo accessories" are recommended to ensure the fault-free operation of the
pump / installation.
The minimum pump ground clearance figures of 80 mm or 100 mm must be observed.
The water level (
( min* Construction with cooling jacket). The level control is to be set at this minimum level.
The pump must be secured against dry running. For this, level sensors, float switches or
plungers from the Wilo range of accessories can be used.
